"Last year, almost 30 percent of the district's 202,000 students were black and almost 60 percent were Hispanic." Huh? Am I reading those numbers correctly? Are there only 10% whites in HISD?

Huh? Am I reading those numbers correctly? Are there only 10% whites in HISD?Seems to be true. Check out the numbers from the Houston ISD link. It also shows Hispanic (students) as the majority statewide in Texas.

>>>>Huh? Am I reading those numbers correctly? Are there only 10% whites in HISD?<<<< You are reading that correctly. It seems that there might be bigger things to worry about than a ghetto handbook coming from the black community, however.
>>Hispanics account for 59 percent of HISDs 209,000 students, blacks make up 30 percent and whites 9 percent.
Houstons black and Hispanic students struggled the most as the gap separating the passing rates for those students and whites grew larger. While 62 percent of the Houston Independent School Districts White 10th-graders passed all four subjects tested on the TAKS, only 17 percent of blacks and 19 percent of Hispanics achieved the minimum standard.<<<
Not that 62% is all that impressive, either.

Probably less than that because they didn’t throw in the “Asians”. Whites with kids left the Inner City long ago to good School Districts surrounding Houston or sent their kids to private schools of which there are many.
The huge percentage of Hispanics resulted from the ongoing “Invasion” over the past 25 years. The Hispanics are now running the Blacks out of thir neighborhoods and are taking over.
When the Whites were being ethnicly cleansed, the Blacks were licking their chops thinking they were going to take over Houston. The Hispanics totally blindsided them and now the shoe’s on the other foot.
