I am not a glutton for punishment.
I watch portions of Free Speech TV's Democracy Now! because it's a part of my daily employment duties. You know, make sure it properly airs so the local libs don't go off in a conspiracy theory tirade. They know I work where I work, and are always suspicious I may be up to some funny business.
But as a Black man, I am also disgusted on an almost daily basis by the parade of Black victims trotted out by hostess Amy Goodman. It's as if she considers herself this Great White Hope; the only chance these poor people have to get the justice only her show's exposure can assure. She is their lone, caring voice in this insensitive, corporate, racist world we live in.
How liberal.
During the August 30th episodic, Miss Amy was in New Orleans commemorating the second anniversary of the disaster that was Hurricane Katrina. Goodman was, of course, reporting from the hood.

Saw about 30 seconds of it, flipping the channels. They may lack homes, but they certainly don’t lack food.
Sheesh, they never give up. Just last week they were indulging in handwringing over Sacco and Vanzetti.
Not to be callous, but what I would really like to see the MSM report is the detrimental effect Katrina had on the city of Houston. Crime rate doubled, Murder rate tripled and the silence is deafening.
As a White man, I don’t find her very intersting.
To be fair, Amy Goodman is hardly mainstream.
If Katrina hit Omaha, no one would give a damn in the liberal media. Because it was NOLA and its large non-white population, its now a racial event.
What, is EVERYBODY stupid? Question: What do you do with a dead body decomposing in the sun. Answer: Bury it.
LOL,good point. I would just like any media to report the story. We got well deserved accolades for taking in so many, but when the story got ugly it was no longer reported. It doesn’t fit the “poor victim” storyline.
“Just last week they were indulging in handwringing over Sacco and Vanzetti.”
Can’t wait for their show on the Rosenbergs.
We have already spent more money on Katrina than we did on The Marshall Plan. Unless this harridan is suggesting that the 1.5 million Union carpenters in America be forced to go to NOLA and live in tent cities until they rebuild the Lower Ninth Ward then she should shut up.
Also waiting for their show about prominent Democrats who were slaveholders.
You do have to wonder at the apparent willingness of so many black people to be portrayed as helpless children that can’t survive the modern world without help from the leftist nanny state.
It never ceases to amaze that they don’t just spit in Hillary’s eye.
Hmmmm. Chicago, San Francisco, and Galveston were all rebuilt. One reason New Orleans isn’t being rebuilt is that they’re waiting for someone to do it for them.
I like many Freepers am sick of the National Pity Party for New Orleans and it is time to derail the gravy train to these corrupt officials who helped create this mess.
The truth of the matter is the elected officials down there were worried more about how the city would look politically after a direct strike than saving residences and I am writing an Op-Ed to that effect.
If it keeps on rainin, levees goin to break,
If it keeps on rainin, levees goin to break,
When the levee breaks Ill have no place to stay.
Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan,
Lord, mean old levee taught me to weep and moan,
Got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home,
Oh, well, oh, well, oh, well.
Dont it make you feel bad
When youre tryin to find your way home,
You dont know which way to go?
If youre goin down south
They go no work to do,
If you dont know about chicago.
Cryin wont help you, prayin wont do you no good,
Now, cryin wont help you, prayin wont do you no good,
When the levee breaks, mama, you got to move.
All last night sat on the levee and moaned,
All last night sat on the levee and moaned,
Thinkin bout me baby and my happy home.
Going, gon to chicago,
Gon to chicago,
Sorry but I cant take you.
Going down, going down now, going down.
Heard some of it it on college radio yesterday. Noted how Ms. Goodman let people sling various, vague charges of racism and race-based neglect all over, but interrupted and wanted clarification when one guy mentioned Gov. Blanco’s infamous 2005 “shoot to kill” anti-looting pronoucements.
I think the unreported story about Houston crime has more to do with MS-13 than the katrina refurgees.
I might be a glutton for punishment, I suppose ... but I am a fairly regular listener to Democracy Now!. Though, I prefer to LISTEN to Democracy Now!, rather than watch ... Amy Goodman could use a visit to the Clinique counter.
As for blaxploitation ... every single Democracy Now! show is the same monotonous droning. For those of you who don’t subject yourself to Ms. Goodman’s “reporting” ... here’s a synopsis of her show since its inception:
- every person ever given the death penalty was wrongly convicted,
- every atrocity ever committed in the world can be traced directly back to the United States and Israeli governments,
- every brutal regime in the world is “conservative” or “right-wing” and was forced into power by the U.S. ... usually by voter fraud,
- No communist or left-wing regime has EVER been put into office by vote fraud ... they’re all popular dictators brought on by a grassroots movement,
- No Democrat has ever actually lost an election ... Republicans just rigged the voting,
- the U.S. military is a terrorist organization,
- George W. Bush, Henry Kissinger, Bill Clinton, and the corpse of Ronald Reagan should be imprisoned in the Hague until they are literally fully decayed,
- every nation not fully committed to socialist health care is committing genocide,
- whatever the disaster, the poor (esp. women and minorities) are the hardest hit ... because of the United States government,
- no corporation (generally considered organized criminals) has ever done anything good ... ever,
- no communist or socialist nation has ever committed an atrocity (especially since all atrocities originate in the U.S.).
- capitalism is an atrocity,
- generally speaking, Amy Goodman has never met a terrorist, terrorist organization, criminal, “detainee”, or cop killer that she didn’t immediately feel sympathy for (this, of course, is excluding the Israeli goverment, corporations, American government and Republicans generally - which she would define as a murdering, terrorist organizations, specializing in genocide and organized crime).
etc., etc., etc.
