NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The NAACP filed a civil rights lawsuit challenging a purge of Louisiana voters believed to have registered in other states following Hurricane Katrina. In the federal court action, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People contends that the purge has already begun without the necessary pre-approval of the U.S. Department of Justice.
Because of its history of racial discrimination before the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, voting changes in Louisiana and other Southern states must be approved by federal officials.
On June 15, Secretary of State Jay Dardenne announced that his agency was mailing notices to 53,554 voters saying they must give up their registration in other states or risk losing the right to vote in Louisiana. Dardenne said the state had compared Louisiana voter roles with those of other states and identified people with identical names and dates of birth.
Voters were given one month to prove they had canceled their out-of- state registrations. After that, they had to appear in person at their voter registrar's office with documentation that their non-Louisiana registration had been canceled.
On Aug. 17, election officials said more than 21,192 people had been droppedthe majority from areas hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina. Of those, 6,932 were from Orleans Parish, which was majority black before the storm.
In its lawsuit, filed Thursday, the NAACP said that "the voting rights of many more may be threatened unless this court enjoins this practice."
The named plaintiffs in the suit include Rosa Segue, a woman described as a lifelong Orleans Parish resident who lost her home to Katrina and has relocated to Katy, Texas and a person identified only as John Doe- Jane Doe displaced from Louisiana who intends to return.

Hmmmm. Lemme see. The overwhelming number of these voters are probably black. Blacks historically vote for liberals because they are the handout nanny state party. The NAACP is decidedly liberal with libtards like Andrew Young at the forefront.
Nope no vested intestests there.

is it just New Orleans, LA, or are the other states in on it?
New Orleans trying to keep up with politics perfected in Chicago and Philadelphia .... among others.

Vote early and vote often
MotorVoter requires them to do this and that legislation was passed after any such consent decree was made. To retain a voter who registered in another state would be a fraud enabler. plain and simple.
It seems that they know the names of the double registered voters. Will they prosecute if they vote twice?
Only if they're registered Republican.

A neat trick of using an off-point statement to obscure the main question. Did John & Jane Doe REGISTER TO VOTE in another state? That is the issue at hand. Whether or not they ever cast a ballot there or intend not to vote there in the future (we promise, we swear) matters not if they registered in their "temporary" location. Further, the remedy is to simply register in their home parish in Louisiana, thus cancelling their out-of-Louisiana registretion automatically as provided for in Motor Voter.
NAACP just wants to keep the DP voter fraud tradition alive in New Orleans. Next they will be requesting federal funds to bus the disenfranchised to the polls —— from the surrounding states.
This only proves how far some people will to lie and hold onto power. naacp is a bygone organization full of people who care about lining their own pockets, with other people’s money.
Nagin endorsed Jindal for the 2003 governor election. That is one reason Blanko drug her feet. Nagin and Mitch Landrieu ended up in the top two spots for the runoff after too many good candidates diluted the vote in the primary election. It was either 4 years of Nagin, incompetent but not a crook or 8+ years of Landrieu, son of the real political crime family of New Orleans. Sinator Mary’s baby brother couldn’t win in his hometown.
Lets see Jessie & Al should be their right about.........
Now!
53,000 plus registered in other states ....at least
Lets see Jessie & Al should be their right about.........

All is saved, the ‘justice’ brothers have arrived.
So they’re on the side of voter fraud. No surprise there.
