You are misrepresenting what Fred said, not Kimberly. In that same quote he said sending them back is “not going to happen”. For your enlightenment:
Because we allowed ourselves to wait until we woke up one day and found 12 million illegals here, theres no easy solution. And I think that you have to realize that youre either going to drive 12 million people underground permanently, which is not a good solution. Youre going to get them all together and get them out of the country, which is not going to happen. Or youre going to have to, in some way, work out a deal where they can have some aspirations of citizenship, but not make it so easy that its unfair to the people waiting in line and abiding by the law.
Don’t “enlighten” me, pissant, with the same fraudulent tactics. I know that quote. I know it’s context. And I know what else Thompson has said on the issue. My interpretation is correct in that sense, and to twist it into some form of faux “open borders” position is very, very wrong.
It will take a combination of things to get this solved. First and above all else close the border or we are spitting in the wind. Then send back the violent criminals, the ones in our jails now and those we catch later. Create a work environment that will cause as much self deportation as possible. Deport the odd ones here and there that we can catch and with time we will be down to a manageable level, perhaps with less than a quarter to a half left, and those will be doing jobs and be productive potential citizens, which is not a bad thing, it is where we got our start...
The solution has to be based in reality, it has to be fair, generally acceptable and supported by the majority, for the long haul I might add, since it will take a few years. We may not like it, but thats the facts, core conservatives don't hold a majority and if we keep acting like spoiled brats with an ax to grind we will get BUPKIS, and we will be up to our asses in illegals
These guys are not running for President of Fantasy Land...
