Earlier this year the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change said it was "90 percent likely" that man was having an impact on global temperatures. And dailytech.com reports an analysis of scientific papers in 2004 concluded that a majority of researchers supported what it called the "consensus view" that humans were effecting climate change.
But now a study of all research papers between 2004 and 2007 indicates only seven percent give an explicit endorsement of that so-called consensus. Forty-five percent give an implicit endorsement. But 48 percent of the papers are classified as neutral — neither accepting nor rejecting the hypothesis. And only one of the 528 papers reviewed makes any reference to climate change leading to catastrophic results.

Fat Albert keeps saying we are but ten years from ecological armageddon. Anyone know for how long he has been saying ten years?
I’m not sure if this is the best way of challenging the notion of a consensus. The last think you would expect to see in a scientific journal is “everything everyone else says on this topic is correct.” Generally, things get published because they have a new and different perspective on a subject.
This may be the killer line of the article: “And only one of the 528 papers reviewed makes any reference to climate change leading to catastrophic results.”
If it don’t much matter then it don’t much matter.
I know they threw around the “ten years” thing ten years ago. so IT’S TO LATE!!!!!

True with regard to minor details. However, at least with regard to the medical literature, truly contrary views of substance rarely see print.
I was thinking that the ten years was up today, but then I remembered that 2000 was not a leap year, so we have one more day. Tomorrow, it’s doomsday.
But to an uninformed layman with no idea where a scientist would get such a figure, "90%" sounds like "nearly certainly true" - when it is strictly to be rejected as "noise", in scientific circles.
Ecological doom has been predicted for longer than that in such books as The Closing Circle which seems to have been first published in 1971. From what I remember from that book, we are all long dead. But not necessarily dead for precisely what is predicted by Fat Albert.

The global warming hysteria is increasingly reminding me of the Salem witch trials were unprovable “spectral” evidence of witches and witchcraft was used to convict and execute many innocent souls.
