Pentagon disputes parts of Iraq report (GAO got facts wrong + Dems set up report to fail)

Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell said that after reviewing a draft of the Government Accountability Office report — which has not yet been made public — policy officials "made some factual corrections" and "offered some suggestions on a few of the actual grades" assigned by the GAO. We have provided the GAO with information which we believe will lead them to conclude that a few of the benchmark grades should be upgraded from `not met' to `met,'" Morrell said. He declined to elaborate or to spell out which of the benchmark grades the Pentagon was disputing.

A bar was set so high, that it was almost not to be able to be met," White House deputy press secretary Dana Perino said. "On the other hand, one of the things it does not take into account, which is not on the benchmark list, is the cooperation of the Sunni tribes, who have decided to fight back against al-Qaida."

"I think we have said they have not met the benchmarks," Perino said. "I don't see how it would be news for them to come out today and say they have not met benchmarks. We have said that."

"While we've seen progress in some areas, it would not surprise me that the GAO would make this assessment given the difficult congressionally mandated measurement they had to follow," said Gordon Johndroe, spokesman for the National Security Council.

"It's pretty clear that if that's your measurement standard a majority of the benchmarks would be determined not to have been met," said one official. "A lot of them are multipart and so, even if 90 percent of it is done, it's still a failure." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070830/ap_on_go_co/us_iraq

The Democrats would do anything and everything they can to appease terrorists.... even if it means handing over to them whole countries.

until- unless the Pentagon repents—and appologizes to the
military officers it has charged with misconduct claiming they wrogfully gave an appearance of military endorsement of Christianity by being in a video promoting a group called Christian Embassy. Until we give these
anti-Christian bigots with their post modern theology
that levels all religion and makes it a matter of policy
that Christians may be Christian only if no-one is offended by it—but a bloody Muslim can have worship centers built at taxpayer expense -so they can prosecute jihad more comfortably from Quantico-We Need to return to
the vision held from 1775—1975 where the Christian soldier was not considered the enemy but supported and
encouraged. This multi-cultural crap is the hemlock of our
national suicide.A Government that rejects the past has no
future.

What Traitor released this report without the Administration having a chance to respond to or edit the findings and recommendations? As far as I am concerned, Guantanamo is too for that Traitor.

Such freaking one-sidedness. Amazingly (sarcasm emohasized), my local newsradio station has taken all the ‘bad’ results and spews them as gospel, offering no opposing view.

Can they please wait until the actual report comes out n the 15th? Their sick game is to undermine and water down any good news. We need another callin and letter writing swamp campaign to the Congresscritters like was done during the immigration bill they tried to pawn off on us.
