Kennedy announced in Jan of the year he ran and won.

Kennedy won in a brokered convention by cutting a deal with LBJ. He didn't have enough votes going in. How the game was played a half century ago hardly matters today.

Well you got that kinda right. (No need to go into that now though. Half century thingie.)

One of the most crookedest (if that is a word) elections ever.

That was not my point. It's traditional until this year for candidates to announce in the fall. Am I repeating myself here?

Or are you saying that for the last 50 years all candidates announced almost two years ahead of the elections?
