That’s how it appeared to me as well. Hopefully a jury will see it the same way. What is it with these women? They act like mega-attention-seekers.

Maybe, or perhaps she'd just run into people trying to stop her from doing what the law says she's allowed to do.

Now that's not meant as an endorsement on my part of the law itself, because I don't think the state of Kentucky should be telling Applebees what they can or can't allow in their stores, like smoking say.

First of all, the child is not an it, but a human being. Second, seven months old is typically too early to wean a baby.

Your comment is just ignorant. Babies who are being nursed should be EXCLUSIVELY breastfed until 6 months of age.

After that, solids are introduced - but breastmilk is still the primary food for babies that young.

Breastmilk is the natural first food for babies, it provides all the energy and nutrients that the infant needs for the first months of life, and it continues to provide up to half or more of a child’s nutritional needs during the second half of the first year, and up to one-third during the second year of life.

And the World Health Organization and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend breastfeeding until the baby is AT LEAST 12 months old, and then afterward, for as long as mutually desired by mother and child.

And I don't feel that simply having a copy of the law at the ready is at all negative or "trolling for a lawsuit." People obviously are unaware of the law a lot of the time, and there have been quite a few of highly-publicized instances lately where nursing mothers have been harrassed. It's actually a good idea to be prepared.

Those ignorant of a subject should not hold strong opinions about it. Babies should be breastfed for at least a year, and you aren't supposed to feed them anything but breast milk for the first six months.

You’re kidding, right? 7 or 8 months old and she should WEAN HIM? Every woman should breastfeed until at LEAST one year, and many do for much longer than that — till two years old.

The fact that she had the law on her isn’t a big deal. Health departments and doctors have these things in their offices/pass them out. Additionally articles on breastfeeding recommend carrying a copy of your state’s laws in case you do run into issues. And now that this has happened I will carry one with me now as well when I have children. Do some research on breastfeeding before you make a seemingly smart remark. 7 months is too early to wean a child. Further, more women should breastfeed. It is theorized that if that were the case we wouldn’t have to pump babies full of immunizations. Because of jerks that complain about it and give people hard times over it, women don’t do it. It’s ridiculous. And we’re the only society that has this big of an issue with it. Worldwide, average weaning age is between 2.8 and 4 years old. Breastmilk adapts to suit the needs of the child as it grows. Get a clue.

Thirty and 25 years ago, when I was a member, we were pretty militant. I got so irritated with the resistance to natural birth and breastfeeding that I went on to med school. Carrying the doggone law is not that big a deal in comparison, is it?

7 months is way too early to wean human babies. Quite a few of women and babies can’t manage the pump and bottle for several reasons.

It makes sense to ensure that you can easily inform objecting establishments of your legal rights, especially as incidents such as this one prove that many staff are still unaware of women’s rights in this capacity.

So...no. She shouldn’t be weaning the baby yet. He will still require breastmilk for some time to come, and she’s doing the best possible thing for his future health by following the doctors’ advice, rather than yours - which seems to be heavily underinformed.

I always carry a copy of the constitution, so that whe someone says they have a "right" to an abortion, healthcare, etc, I can ask them to 'show me where!'
