Scale ingredients to servings
3 fresh mint sprigs
2 tsp sugar
3 tbsp fresh lime juice
1 1/2 oz light rum
club soda

In a tall thin glass, crush part of the mint with a fork to coat the inside. Add the sugar and lime juice and stir thoroughly. Top with ice. Add rum and mix. Top off with *chilled* club soda (or seltzer). Add a lime slice and the remaining mint, and serve.

Its a Mint Julep with Rum instead of Bourbon, then put a lime on it and maybe some sparkling water (aka soda). The Bacardi company is working very hard to make this drink common because Rum and Coke has become so passe.

It is also a good point to this story. This lady is so image centric that she is putty in Bacardi’s hands. They want her to buy rum and so all they need to do is put a mojito in the hands of one of the sex and the city gals as well as a Cosmo model and this lady is divorcing her husband to find a man who can make a good mojito.

WTF is a “mojito”?

Cuban rum-based cocktail that is all the rage among trendies these days....

From Wikipedia:

Mojito (pronounced IPA: [məˈhiː.toʊ] (English) [mo'xi.to] (Spanish)) is a traditional Cuban cocktail which became popular in the United States during the late 1980s, and has recently seen a resurgence in popularity.

A mojito is traditionally made of five ingredients: spearmint, rum, sugar (traditionally sugar cane juice), lime, and carbonated water[1]. Its combination of sweetness and refreshing citrus and spearmint flavors are intended to mask the potent kick of the rum, and have made this clear cocktail a popular summer drink. Many hotels in Havana also add Angostura bitters to cut the sweetness of the mojito; while a popular variation, it is not the original version created in La Bodeguita del Medio[1].

To make a Mojito, juice from a lime is added to sugar and mint leaves in a tall glass. The mixture is then gently mashed repeatedly with a muddler. Crushed ice is then added, followed by rum and topped off with club soda.

The word mojito is derived from the diminutive of the word mojo.[2]

Its a rum based drink.

An easy mojito cocktail recipe to liven up your evening:

1.5 oz Rum
12 fresh spearmint leaves
1/2 lime
7 oz club soda
2 tbsp. simple syrup
(or 4 tsp. sugar)

For the smoothest majitos, gently crush mint leaves and lightly squeeze lime in a cool tall glass. Pour sweet syrup on top to cover and fill glass with ice. Add Rum, club soda, and stir your emerging mojito well. Garnish with a lime wedge, a few sprigs of mint.

It’s a drink that’s drunk by women and by the kind of men who keep house and then get dumped.
