Fresh fuel protests held in Burma

Further protests have been held in Burma over fuel price rises, despite the arrest of more than 60 activists by the military since last week. The low-key demonstrations involved some 30 people in Rangoon and up to 200 monks in the western port of Sittwe.

But analysts say it is remarkable they are happening at all, given the army's crackdown on last week's protests.

The fuel price rise, in the case of cooking gas by 500%, has enraged a population already living in poverty.

In addition to deploying soldiers and armed police, the government has sent gangs of thugs, some allegedly recently released criminals, to attack the protestors and drag away their leaders.

It is time for the World to get rid of this Saddam Hussein wannabe regime in Burma . It is time for the people to start raiding the armories and stop being so timid . It is time for the Burmese people to start dragging off the government sponsored thugs . It is time for the Burmese people to release Aung San Suu Kyi by force , with the support of neighboring countries and the USA . This would be a fight worth fighting.

I think Aung San Suu Kyi would disagree, and advocate non-violent action instead:

“Aung San Suu Kyi is a nonviolent pro-democracy activist and leader of the National League for Democracy in Myanmar (Burma), and a noted prisoner of conscience. A Buddhist, Suu Kyi won the Rafto Prize and the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought in 1990 and in 1991 was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her peaceful and non-violent struggle under a military dictatorship.”

I agree , that she would not agree. Yet if not released she will die in her little house there . Ghandiism or Dalai Lamaism does not work , the thugs and tyrants just get a free pass and revel in their power ,uncontested. Look at what followed in Ghandis aftermath in India , and the Buddhists ,for all their noble pacifism, where vastly slaughtered and their religion very nearly eradicated by the early moslem hoards that swept India . The modern Burmese have been like sheep , and they too are imprisoned and randomly slaughtered , and worse.
The Burmese ethnic minorities are treated far worse than any beast . It’s time for the fruit salad chested tin-pot generals in Rangoon to be done away with by any means necessary. Aung San Suu Kyi should be freed , then let her go on with her peaceful path of politics for Burma , once the cancerous growths have been excised .
