"Sometimes a discussion (read: argument) goes on and on and I wish people would stop posting to me, but having started the discussion I feel I have to continue answering them, like I’m responsible or something."

Really? What would make you feel that way?

Tell everyone how you feel, something such as, you aren’t changing your mind, but that you feel a little beat down at the moment, and you are going to drop out of the argument for a while.

Just tell them what ever is going on, you don’t have to back down, but I think we all understand that someone can get tired of hosting a long battle, and may want to go off and do something else, including shift gears by going to a different thread.

The thread lives on without our own obsessed devotion to it, we aren’t paid representatives of our points of view, if you are bored with a topic, or a particular poster, just let it go, ponder what you have learned, and pick it up on a future thread.

“Really? What would make you feel that way?”

Because I think I have to clean up all the loose ideas and thread hijacks with my rhetoric broom.
