WASHINGTON (AP) -- Senate Republican leaders called for an ethics committee review Tuesday into Idaho Sen. Larry Craig's guilty plea in a police sting operation this summer in an airport men's room.
Republican leaders also are "examining other aspects of the case to see if additional action is required," Sen. Mitch McConnell and other top GOP lawmakers said in a written statement obtained by The Associated Press.
They released the statement shortly before Craig's scheduled appearance before television cameras in Boise, his first public comments since confirming his guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.
Craig entered his plea several weeks after an undercover police officer in the Minneapolis arrested him and filed a complaint that said the three-term senator had engaged in actions "often used by persons communicating a desire to engage in sexual conduct."
The bathroom incident in the Minneapolis airport occurred on June 11. Craig signed his plea papers on Aug. 1, and word of the events surfaced on Monday. The senator issued a statement Monday night that said, "In hindsight, I should have pled not guilty." . . .

I just heard him on the radio. I think he said about three times, “I’m not gay.”
I wonder how his gay friends feel about that? Just kidding.

Of course the Rats are calling for Craig’s head, but if the GOP kicks him out, they will be the first to accuse the GOP of homophobia for doing so.

This is the difference between the dems and the repubs.
The repubs call out their own and the dems protect their own.

I think he said, “I’m not gay but perhaps I could lay my head in your lap while we drive down a bumpy road, officer.” I can see where he might have been misunderstood.

If he were a Defeatocrat he’d be a hero in the media because the police harrassed him. Because he’s a Republican it’s a crime.

THAT'S UNACCEPTABLE! The Senate GOP MUST PRESS for Senator Craig's resignation! The kind of conduct he displayed is not benefiting a United States Senator. We have the right and the obligation to expect the very highest standards of behavior from our leaders. A backroom whitewash is another another affirmation of the status quo that has turned off so many Americans. The base should not settle less for less than Craig's departure from the Senate.

Well La Te Da...Fyank didn't get much of a probe...tut tut..if homosexuality is so acceptable what's all the fuss?!
Knee jerk reaction by the DBM...........besides Craig entered his plea several weeks after an undercover police officer in the Minneapolis arrested him and filed a complaint that said the three-term senator had engaged in actions "often used by persons communicating a desire to engage in sexual conduct."....is it only Democratic homos who engage in sex with their fellow man that is acceptable.....Craig's word is good till proven other wise.

He needs to resign. The GOP should bring enormous pressure to bear upon him to do that. He is naive if he thinks he’s getting re-elected or even re-nominated.
