HUGO, Okla. (AP) -- State Senator Jeff Rabon was arrested on a drunken driving complaint Monday evening after a multi-car accident, authorities said. Choctaw County Sheriff Lewis Collins says Rabon was booked into the Choctaw County jail and released on a $1,000 bond.
The accident, which did involve injuries, occurred Monday night in Hugo, and Rabon was arrested by a Hugo police officer, Collins said.
"He was involved in a multi-car accident last night, but I don't have the particulars," Collins said.
Hugo City Manager David Rawles says the three-car accident happened along U.S. Highway 70 near the Kiamichi Technology Center's Hugo campus. Rawles says he does not know if Rabon took a breathalyzer test but says the legislator failed a field sobriety test at the scene.
In 2005, a state trooper was disciplined for not investigating whether alcohol was involved in a Labor Day weekend accident in which Rabon's truck ended up in a ditch.
Last year, Rabon authored a bill to impose stiff jail sentences for repeatedly selling alcohol to anyone under 21 years old. The bill allowed prison sentences of up to five years and fines of up to $5,000 for servers or clerks caught repeatedly selling beer or other alcohol to minors.

As soon as I didn’t see what party he was in-I knew he was a D. I love our media.
I figured as much. It isn't mentioned in the thread.
He could afford a cab.
haha, same here.
Same here... it’s sad really.
“I figured as much. It isn’t mentioned in the thread”
Yeah : )
It’s always easy to tell when a perp-politician is a Democrat...the news piece remains completely silent about party affiliation.
Since the first mention of party affiliation was in your comment, I took that as a given.
But Senator Craig is a REPUBLICAN, don'tcha know...
When they don’t mention political party it is almost a shoe in they are Dumbocrats.
Hillary, Obama Osama and Edwards come to mind along with Richardson.
I wonder why his party wasn’t identified in the fourth word of the article like that Larry the queer guy from Idaho.
Seems to be the favorite hobby of politicians “Druken Driving “
Yes, as others have noted, I knew it by the fact that the party affiliation was not mentioned.
If it had been a Republican, the party would have been in the first six words of the article.
I wonder if, among other things, it makes it easier for people to come up with Republican wrongdoing on a Nexis-Lexis or similar search.
They must think we’re idiots not to have figured out the way they report.
Very sad. But, we got their number.
Everyone knew it was a RAT. If it isn’t listed in the title of the article it means RAT.
It’s a dead giveaway when their party isn’t mentioned.
