Those Finn soldiers must have been some of the toughest and meanest alley fighters in the world if that little nation beat the stuffin out of Stalin’s Red Army and then turned around and ran Hitler’s bully boys out of their country too. We need to be sure we have Finland on our side if the balloon ever goes up again.

I was just reading that the German Army burned the capital city of Lappland province ("Reindeer Crossing" is the way I translate it) to the ground and destroyed everything they could in the area.

I suspect they knew very well that the core group beating them to death were the local Skolt, Inari and other Eastern Sa'ami who'd contributed something like 5,000 soldiers to the Finnish army.

When you fight a war in the winter in the far North it's wise to have people around you who can tolerate the cold.

Remember the guy who was diving into the Arctic and swimming a quarter mile a few weeks back? He thinks he trained himself to withstand the cold. Many others know you don't "train" for that ~ you just do it 'cause you can.
