He is indeed. And compassionate too, but NOT like the modern day compassionate conservative. Like a true Conservative. This could have been written by Reagan, it is inspiring, as Reagan would have been.

If the One Year Anniversary of Katrina was any indication, too much of the national media attention this week will be focused on the Lower 9th Ward, and not enough on the rest of the city. This is not to minimize the on-going tragedy that it the L9, but rather to seek a more fair and balanced look at the recovery.
We Photograph, You Decide
The photo galleries on this page are an accurate reflection of what New Orleans looks like right now. The pictures were, with a very few exceptions, taken since this past April.
This first set of galleries are from neighborhoods in Orleans Parish that were not flooded in Katrina. As you might expect these neighborhoods look much like they did before Katrina.

no nation has as many citizens willing to share what they have with their fellow man as this blessed land called AmericaThis should be what the world thinks about when it recalls Katrina. The 'rat leaders and the MSM would prefer they think that Bush is incompetent instead. They love power more than anything, their country included. I really like Duncan Hunter.
To: llmc1
"I see top notch school administrators and educators picking up the challenge of Americans in New Orleans"...
I was okay with it up to this. I had to stop reading before the inevitable "We're from the government and we're here to help you."
I'd rather read Duncan talking about borders, fences, China, trade imbalance, etc.

I take it you missed what was just a few paragraphs before that line:
But more important than the government programs is the way the citizens of our nation shape and are shaped by this massive hurricane disaster and its aftermath. There are those who portray the people of New Orleans as permanent victims, to whom government owes lifetime entitlements. They view every aspect of Katrina as somehow a reflection of the need for bigger, stronger government, almost to the point to where one wonders if they wont assign political blame for the winds and waters of the hurricane itself.
I dont see it that way. I see a great future for New Orleans, based not on what government does for people but because of what free people do for themselves. For every cynic who sees only government as the answer I see people as the answer.

Well that’s more like it (what we expect from DH)!
In the Reuters article quoted at this thread
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1887662/posts
Hunter is mentioned thus:
“Hunter, a U.S. representative from California, said Katrina had proven that ‘government is inept.’ “
Arguably worse than not mentioning Hunter at all, it leaves one with the impression that DH is just another politician who thinks the govt needs to do more, cost more, and be a better nanny.

But I saw a different story. It was the story of the great National Guard troops who we found holding the city together, the law enforcement personnel, and the fireman and rescue workers from all over the United States who interrupted their lives to rush to help the people of New Orleans. It was the huge team of volunteers I saw at Houma who were operating the rescue center to clothe, feed and care for people. It was the huge room of clothes stacked so high, with a sign that said, Please no more clothes are needed. You mean the media was lying to me ?????? Say it isn't so !!!!
