JEFFERSON CITY | Citing an unnatural influx of illegal immigrants, Gov. Matt Blunt on Monday ordered state troopers to start checking the immigration status of every person they arrest.
Blunt pointed to the case of an illegal immigrant from Peru who was charged in the Aug. 4 murders of three college students in New Jersey. The man already had been arrested for child rape and assault charges but was out on bail. Had law enforcement officers checked his immigration status, critics have said, he would have been detained and the killings would not have occurred.
Blunt said that while Americans are all descended from immigrants, there has been a recent flood of illegal immigrants who openly flout the laws of the United States.
The federal government has failed to act to curtail illegal immigration, and its time for Missouri to do something, he said.

Perhaps some are waking up to this though it's doubtful many will remain awake much like 9/11.
I think the proper term is INVASION, and it has been going on for a long time. A Hillry landslide is on the horizon.
“unnatural influx”
See story from a few days ago about 25,000 illegals moving out of Tulsa, Oklahoma because of a new immigration law about to take effect Nov. 1
Missouri is just up the road from Tulsa. It’s amazing what enforcement of laws will do.
Why wasn’t it already standard procedure?
On a pet peeve note-I’m glad that he said “flaut” rather than “flaunt”-I’ve been seeing that a lot in regard to this issue.
flaut=flout. Good golly, hoist on my own petard.
Looks like New Mexico is in for it.
Seems the politicos heard us back in June & July...Let’s keep up the good work!!
Demand a border fence! Build it NOW!! Beef up the border patrol and close our borders! Stop the DREAM Act!!

EXACTLY! It’s just boggles my mind as to why some see this is as something new. The laws have been there all along - the only thing new about it is enforcement.
Message to illegals of all nationalities: The free ride is over - go home and come back legally or not at all.
It’s amazing how they get the picture when we enforce our laws. It’s just disturbing to me that it has taken 9/11 to open people eyes to the problem. And the question foremost in my mind is who decided to not enforce our laws in the first place?
Do they ask people who smell like beer if they’ve been drinking? Do they ask Werner Von Meth Lab if they can look in the shed when the neighbors complain of a bizarre smell? The Governor better check and see.
There has also been extensive TV coverage and public outrage of and against the politicians and law enforcement officials like the moronic Mayor of Newark.
The "it's the Fed's job" mantra, heard across the Nation is giving way to local action in over 40 States. The law making is getting better at making sure that the laws survive leftist attacks by supporters of the sanctuary movement.
What do they do with the information? Can a State deport someone?
The state cannot deport anyone. Only the Federal government has the that authority.
ICE is going to have to hire a lot more people and the Feds will have to build more detention centers if states are going to start enforcing immigration laws.

Wait a minute..
You mean there’s a “New” Mexico?
That’s alot cheaper than health care, education and other costs associated with illegal aliens.
And if enough federal dollars are directly sucked out of the coffers, the feds may see it's seriously cheaper to physically secure our borders, especially the southern one.
