The 18-year-old beauty contestant who mesmerized the nation with her verbal "brilliance" at the Miss Teen USA pageant over the weekend actually entered beauty pageants to improve her personal communication skills, WND can reveal.

” the way her mind doesnt work needs to be analyzed “
JMO — her mind doesn’t work - very well, at least - because she, being a comely young lady in 21st century America, probably has never needed to actually use it — and like muscles, the mind will atrophy if not exercised.
Innocent!
Her answer was awful, but she's young. She'll become stronger and smarter (Hopefully...) because of it.
Neal Boortz skewered her yesterday.
She made as much sense as Ted Kennedy or Robert Byrd or for that fact almost any political Hack around. Maybe she has a future as John Kerrys speechwriter.
Proved by the replies of even more-intelligent-than-average Americans: FReepers. If this girl was 300 pounds, pimple faced, and ugly, no one would give her a pass.
The truth is this girl had no idea what she was talking about, and is sadly representative of way too many of our young people who are well-versed in what to do with their young irresistible bodies which their awful American diets have not yet had time to ravage, but not in how to think and how to express one's thoughts articulately and succinctly. This girl not only did not know how to express herself, she doesn't know how to think!
Twenty years from now when her diet catches up to her and her mind is still full of mush, no one will excuse her for anything. Let's hope this experience wakes her up to the fact that she has much more to work on that displaying her awesome young body that won't stay that way. And let's hope some other young women take note of the spectacle this woman has made for herself and adjust their priorities accordingly.
Dear God, I’m becoming a dirty old man.:D
Yes, but how long before she gets the acting job or book deal when she can’t even express herself verbally? It’s pathetic but it won’t stop people from throwing money at her.
Miss Teen South Carolina Lauren Caitlin Upton fumbles through an answer during Miss Teen USA Pageant on NBC Aug. 24, 2007
I can almost sympathize. At my 2nd job after college I had to give a speech on a new program being implemented. I was new at the job and only expected a handful of people. Imagine my surprise when a few hundred came. I totally froze. Couldn’t talk. I mumbled a few words and gave the microphone back to my boss. It took years to live that one down.
I once worked for a fellow who had a sign in his office that said:
“A Dirty Mind is a Joy Forever”
Not P.C.,but funny.
Well, she does love country music.
I will have to bite my tongue on that one as I am sure there are plenty of country music fans on this site.
I think there’s actually something wrong. A learning disability. She got by without it ever being addressed. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
OH MY GOODNESS...words fail me.
I think it was Miss North Carolina who said one of the scariest things she ever did was go snowboarding “down” in Canada.
I’m not going to be too hard on her because I have a 14 yr old granddaughter. She’s a straight A student and she and ALL her friends are ditzy.
She could always run for Senate.
Kerry is a mental basketcase from childhood and Ted self-induced his with booze. So in suggesting this I’m putting THEM down, not her.
I feel sorry for her. She deserves better than to have people banishing her (verbally) to the Playboy Mansion as though she was worthless other than as a piece of Hefner’s meat until she’s used up and thrown away in a few years.
I wish I owned a Hooters.
