A federal judge granted a temporary restraining order today barring the state of Missouri from enforcing a new law that would require abortion clinics in Columbia and Kansas City to upgrade their facilities.
The law, which was to have gone into effect Tuesday, would have required the clinics to meet the stricter standards for ambulatory surgical centers. Opponents of the law have argued that such standards should not apply to the Kansas City clinic, which performs only medication-induced abortions. They also have argued that the Columbia center should be allowed to continue to operate because the new law should apply only to new, and not pre-existing, facilities.
Supporters of the law say the state must ensure the highest quality care at such clinics.
In approving the restraining order, U.S. District Judge Ortrie Smith set another hearing for Sept. 10 at which he will hear further evidence and arguments.
Another case of a judge over ruling the elected legislature and Governor.
Black-robed oligarchs.
Judge Smith was appointed to the bench by BJ Clinton in 1995. Judicial appoinments matter.
so, what, I guess the people have no choice?
If only they lived in America, then they'd be able to fight, because Americans are self-governing! Who wouldn't fight for what's right if they only had the legal freedom to do so?
We can’t have abortions being performed in sterile, medically-approved conditions.
Oh! Wait! Wasn’t the lack of sterile, medically-approved conditions one of the big reasons advocates used to legalize it?
Beat me to it.
Yep, Smith is another corrupt scumbag appointed by the Sinkmeister.
Exactly. So why are they fighting this? Because the libs want abortion on demand, any time any place for any reason or no reason at all. To them it's just another form of birth control.

Big deal. We’re arguing about the the stricter standards for ambulatory surgical centers instead of the fact we’re murdering innocent life to the tune of about a million and a half every year !!!
You have a good point.
