Rameumptom,
I don’t hold his gayness (assuming it is true) against him
or his religion.

I stated his “mormonness” may be why he wasn’t correctly
vetted. As it turns out, another poster pointed out
that he was Methodist - and I thanked him for
the correction.

best,
ampu

I hastily posted before reading the rest of the thread. My apologies.

“I have to say that I don’t mind him being outed. Because he is clearly cheating on his wife. But I have a hard time with the police here. What was the crime? Why are the police there. I do not believe that he offered to pay the officer. So he hit on him. If a guy in the airport bar hit on a girl it would be legal. Where is the crime?”

Its against the law to have sex (any kind of sex) in public places. There had been complaints that this particular airport restroom was being used for public acts of gay sex. The airport police had stationed undercover officers in the bathroom as a deterrant. I believe Senator Craig pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. The arresting officer was very familiar with the codes and practices of men who have sex in that particular men’s room.
Would YOU want to be solicited for sex in a public restroom?

Taking a bullet for the team. I feel sorry for our cops who have to deal with this.

"Well honey, today at work I got to sit on the crapper all day acting like a gay guy."

Good!

If he was BOOTED from the Romney campaign, Mitt should make that clear.

And let it be known that he isn't using some sort of "gay litmus
test" for his supporters.

But that if they are convicted and PLEAD GUILTY to such crimes...
They are going to be ejected from his campaing.

Yeah, and the police women who have to dress up like prostitutes and take guys to motel rooms. Not the kind of work that I would want my wife doing.

How come our queers get caught and theirs don’t???

Because we make Family Values a priority which I am glad. I am thrilled that this freak is going to HOPEFULLY get voted out of office. What a hypocrite! He was against gay marriage now I guess he will be for it. I hope this story continues until he resigns. How dumb is a person that pleads guilty and then give the dumbest reasons for why he did plead guilty. I didn’t talk with a lawyer. Come on. Are we this stupid? No Senator we are not!

Sex in public places is a crime as is indecent exposure and soliciting. There was enforcement in this place because of deviant crimes being committed. Do you really support allowing sex in public restrooms and the decadence (including exposure to innocents and children) that it represents? Really?

Big Brothers Big Sisters Foundation

That is disturbing. If you look at his list of organizations that he belonged too many were with children.

I read the police account. I did not hear him as for sex or get naked or anything. I agree that having sex in the bathroom may be illegal. But it seemed that he did some tapping and signaling. Don’t you need more of a real “lets have sex” statement.

Re: your last question, you need a "statement" of intent and terms ($$) for a "solicitation" offense, but not for a lewd conduct charge. Craig got the latter charge and pleaded guilty, admitting culpability.
Of course, now that it became public he says that (admitting guilt) was a mistake. Well, maybe it was. And maybe doing what he did in the public restroom was a mistake too. His statement today did nothing to remove suspicions as to what he did.
Do you understand that a crime was committed here, and he admitted to it?
