Los Angeles Enjoying 1,000 Year Seismic LullSo it will not matter when the sea level rises and forces man away because by then the earthquakes will start again.

Hope they're not going to jinx anything. I'm headed out there this coming weekend.

Well, are we doomed or aren’t we?
To: blam
Actually, the correct term is global lulling.

That’s nice to know ... since I had to sink money into repairs on my home after both the Whittier and Northridge quakes.

Of course it’s Bush’s fault. He was the one who appointed San Andreas, and it’s definitely San Andreas’ fault!

Obviously human-influenced and a result of the huge liposuction industry in the LA basin. Lighter people mean lighter footsteps hence no earthquakes.
Of course it’s a joke. Just as “carbon footprints” are.

While the fault is under low stress pump water into it. That provides lubrication and will let it slip without a big jolt. This should relieve the fault and stop the big jolts from happening at all.

I’ve wondered about this. Actually, I think the entire North American continent may be in a lull. Earthquakes here strike big, but earthquakes in South America strike REALLY big. Witness the 7.7 that hit Peru and the 9.0 that hit Chile decades ago.

If all we Southern Californians were to jump up and down in unison, we could trigger enough small quakes to forestall THE BIG ONE.
Why do I always have to be the one who thinks of everything?
