I think we have developed a new ability to make our views known and heeded in Washington. That is the true lesson of Myers and immigration failure. Rather than solely looking for a percise fit on beliefs, we might evaluate responsiveness. Who is it that cares what we think and want?
I, for one, am not looking for a self-important dictator out to impose his ideas on the rest of us, even if I agree with him. Watch out for those guys like Chavez who just advanced the clocks in Venezuela a half hour or Huckabee and Newt who would have us all running laps around our neighborhood in the name of wellness.
As for those who balefully predict that electing Rudy will end the Republican party, I suggest they read a little history. Ot, check out Christy Whitman, "It's My Party, Too." I sure would hate to be at you house on Thanksgiving when the out of town relatives show up.
Proof you're not a conservative if you're touting Whitman.
Whitman is a perfect example of what a disaster electing RINOs to office ends up being. Whitman promised tax cuts and delivered tax increases. She packed the courts full of liberals that helped Frank Lautenberg regain his Senate seat. She constantly touted the idea of man-made global warming while in the Bush administration.
