Here is the topic for an attempt at serious discourse: Who Was The Last Hollywood Conservative?
Ronald Reagan: Left Hollywood for the political arena;
John Wayne: Passed away in the 70's before Reagan was elected to the Presidency, still making films up to his death;
Charlton Heston: Was still working in the 1990's before Alzheimer's took him;
Please, discuss this with me and, if you can, add to the list?
He played Alfred on Batman the Animated Series Throughout the 90's.
I don’t see anything here in what Dennis said that would make me call him a Conservative. He does sound like an almost reluctant Republican though.
and from the music industry Fifty Cents and Kid Rock (seriously)
I miss when TV & movies used to be good.
Forgot Robert Duvall
>>it seems the new “casting couch” involves making a public statement of “George Bush Is An Idiot”, or some formula to that effect, if one wants to work in the industry.<<
There is probably less objection to that than to some of the previous requirements... :)
Eddie Albert was a true hero. My memory is a little fuzzy, but I believe he was in the Navy and saw marines getting shot up pretty bad on the beaches of Tarawa (?). Made dozens of trips under heavy fire in a small boat (may have been a rubber dinghy with an outboard) to pull wounded Marines out of the water.
Ron Silver, although a lifelong Democrat, declared himself a “9/11 Republican” and gave a great speech at the 2004 Republican Convention.
Anyone know about Gary Sinise? I know he's done many shows for the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, has a charity for Iraqi children, and is National Spokesman for The American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial.
Sinise appeared at at least one of Sean Hannity's Freedom Alliance concerts. We saw him at one of those concerts Sean had at Six Flags, NJ over the past few years...
Another person to add to the list is Adam Baldwin (no relation to the Baldwin brothers).
Anyone else know?
Bruce Willis is what you would call a Maverick.
Are you sure he abandoned his movie about the "Deuce Four" battalion? I was looking forward to that, but Bruce has taken down his website. No info.
There are actually quite a few conservative celebrities - or at least Republican celebrities (not just in Hollywood) ...
Drew Carey, Bruce Willis, Bo Derek, Marilyn Manson (believe it or not), J.J. from Good Times, Kid Rock, Toby Keith, Kurt Russell, Goldie Hawn, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Dennis Miller, Kelsey Grammar, Peyton Manning (football player), Clint Eastwood, Ben Stein, Lance Berkman (baseball player), Charles Barkley (basketball player), Adam Baldwin, Dean Cain, Scott Baio, Dixie Carter, Alice Cooper, Robert Conrad, Shannon Doherty, Robert Duvall, Vincent Gallo, Dale Ernhardt Jr., Patricia Heaton, Don King, Tommy Lasorda (baseball manager), Don Mattingly (baseball player), Heather Locklear, Alex Rodriguez (baseball player), Richard Petty, Freddie Prinze Jr., Mickey Rooney, Mickey Rourke, Curt Schilling (baseball player), Ron Silver, Jessica Simpson, Frank Thomas (baseball player), Tony Danza, Tom Sellick, Pat Sajak, Stephen Baldwin (Alec’s brother), Rick Schroeder, Greg Anthony (basketball player), Mel Gibson, Dennis Hopper, Craig Biggio (baseball player), Jeff Bagwell (baseball player), Tom Glavine (baseball player), 50 Cent, Jim Kelly (football player), LL Cool J, Ted Nugent, Mike Piazza (baseball player), Vince Vaughn, Joe Paterno (football coach), Steve Young (football player), Barry Zito (baseball player), Britney Spears (supposedly)
... etc.
H
I would say Adam Sandler or Shannon Doherty.
More detail on Lee Marvin - he was wounded at Saipan when most of his platoon was killed. He was a Marine sniper. Jack Palance’s rugged face was largely a result of facial reconsctruction surgery after his B17 crash. And the senior George Bush was a Navy pilot who was shot down in the Pacific; his crew members both died. He also described an incident where he was standing on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier when a plane crash landed, and the debris sliced a man in half who was standing just a few feet from him. He says he still has nightmares of his war experiences.
I’ll be looking for Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton’s new FoxTV show in a few weeks, about two newscasters (!): “Back to You.”
