We have the majority of the Democrats, a majority of the Media and about 1/3 of elected Republicans that would be in favor of shutting down the government before passing a “constitutionally authorized” budget.

It sounds like heaven to me. Unfortunately, it would result in mere across-the-board freezes. But in an 8-year term, it would result in very significant reduction in spending as inflation and attrition nibbled at those agencies and the private sector responded to such a positive development. Essentially, this is what Newt was doing in the Nineties until he lost his courage on showdowns with the Bent One.

How long will that last?

As long as possible sounds good.

Gridlock is wonderful. How long will it last?

Unfortunately, it would result in mere across-the-board freezes.

How could he sign a spending bill with 70% or more of all of the spending not authorized by the constitution? Would someone in the RP movement pose this question to him? I'd like to know his answer.

A freeze sounds wonderful and I have advocated that exact path to reducing government until our government consumes no more than 10% of our entire economy. Is it going to happen? I wouldn't bet much on it.
