Ron Paul supporters urged to attend MoveOn.org Rally !
RonPaul MeetUp Group ^ | 26 August 2007 | David Osborne

Posted on 08/26/2007 10:44:41 AM PDT by davidosborne

Many of you know that I help organize the Duncan Hunter "meetup" group(s). I decided to peek in at the "competition" and found it very interesting that Ron Paul supporters are being urged to attend the MoveOn.org rally....

http://ronpaul.meetup.com/1/boards/view/viewthread?thread=3421862

I post this because I know there are a lot of folks on FR that support Ron Paul.. I just wonder if you are participating in this effort.. or what you think about this whole business of catering to MoveOn.org

.... quote from an active Ron Paul supporter

Somebody posted a thread concerning moveon, and letting their members know about Ron Paul. As a member of moveon.org, I received today an invitation to create an anti-war rally on August 28th. They will be doing rallies all across the nation on that day. We should invade this event. During the rally, bring anti-war stickers, signs, and flags -- and also Ron Paul signs. Introduce moveon members to Ron Paul, the REAL anti-war candidate! Anti-war people will ask about Ron Paul and be introduced to him on that day. Don't be rude, just gently introduce people to the peace candidate. Moveon.org is well cordinated, so if enough of our people show up at their rallies, we might be able to convert a huge number of people.

I have already created a moveon.org anti-war rally, on the 28th at 7pm, right outisde of the West Covina Mall. Please, everybody who can in this group, COME. It's on the corner of Vincent and Plaza Drive in West Covina.

Oh, I think it’s a perfect picture for the ideology of Democratism.

“You cannot undermine the Commander in Chief without undermining the troops he leads. That is the act of a traitor.”

I’m thinking “undermine” was a bad choice word. Here, oppose, speak out against, seek to change, etc., would suffice. Since to some, undermining may suggest something more devious and under handed.

Either way, one can absolutely support our troops without supporting the President regardless what anyone else might say or believe. Commanders in the theater of war are dutifully replaced when they fail to perform. Were they traitors too? Of course not. They simply failed to deliver and were replaced.

We can’t do the same with the CIC. In the meantime, citizens have a right to disagree with the President’s policy and his war effort good or bad. For anyone to suggest otherwise is unAmerican.

It is an undeclared war, therefore an illegal war. That,in fact, is the righteous argument of many Republicans when Clinton wanted to bomb Kosovo.

Good grief. Were you lurking here during the vicious Xlinton attack on the Christians in the Balkans? We supported the soldier who refused the U.N. helmet, scorned Bush and McStain for publicly supporting the Bent-One-In-Chief, and generally had half a dozen calls daily for armed insurrection. We even had a few members receive visits from the Secret Service (when Xlinton was going to be within 50 miles of their home).

Or did you search out this info via Google or archive.org?

Anyway, you've made me nostalgic for FR's Golden Age, when Ron Paul was our reliable standard and when this was a truly constitutional forum. So many good conservatives no longer with us. We're so anemic now that we barely rate the name Republican. You would have enjoyed it here back then.

Your impression of FreeRepublic in its original anti-Xlinton mode is quite accurate. Of course, during the Bush era, we tend toward a lot of grumbling and making excuses for lib-lite policy from the GOP. Many believe if we only purge the more RINO elements of the GOP that all will be well. Of course, that's a good idea. But only a small-government liberty agenda is going to beat the Xlinton machine. Rockefellerism simply can't beat the libs at their own game.

“But only a small-government liberty agenda is going to beat the Xlinton machine.”

A liberty driven constitutionally restricted fed.gov should not be debatable. But I’m witnessing many here (on a conservative forum,) as well as the majority of liberal voters, viewing our future proper as continuing down the road to a socially progressive quasi communistic like totalitarian state.

“Sure, like the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact. Then you have Ron Paul supporters with MoveOn.org. Both want America defeated. Both will lose.”

I am not “with” moveon.org. We are invading their event. Frankly, I’m a little overwhelmed because as of now there will be 29 of them and only 8 of us. Yet, I still believe they can be persuaded by the freedom message, and join the cause of liberty.

“What’s striking is they combine the isolationist tendencies of Buchanan with the anti-war of Kucinich. Is Ron Paul like the clearinghouse of anti-conservative attackers? Why would RP assign himself the catalyst of all these whackjob factions? Including the trutherists?”

Ron Paul is not isolationist. He is a non-interventionist. He believes we should have open and free trade, and talk with other countries, but not to become the policemen of the world.

We are NOT aliinging with moveon.org. Ron Paul supporters, who want the IRS to disappear, and spending to be drastically cut, disagree with almost everything moveon.org says. We are invading this rally to try to persuade people into the freedom message of Ron Paul.

So when you invade their event.... what’re y’all gonna do?
Like, merge? Coalesce? Stand off?

If you really think you have that much in common with moveon.org, why are you here?

I have nothing in common with gun enthusiasts either, as I do not own a gun. Yet we still campaign outside of gun shows, because they might be persuaded by the freedom message and join the r{EVOL}ution.

I have no idea what’s going to happen tomorrow. They will be surprised that we are there. We will see. I’ll keep you posted after the event.

How do you plan to convince them Ron Paul represents their interests?

I have a stack of Ron Paul literature specifically targeted to anti-war people. It shows Ron Paul’s picture on the front and says “end the war”. It highlights his record on voting against the war, and the patroit act, as well as other civil liberties issues.
