The Democratic National Committee sought to seize control of its unraveling nominating process yesterday, rejecting pleas from state party leaders and cracking down on Florida for scheduling a Jan. 29 presidential primary.
The DNC's rules and bylaws committee, which enforces party rules, voted yesterday morning to strip Florida of all its delegates to the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver -- the harshest penalty at its disposal...

The funniest thread EVER on FR (or any other message board) was titled ARGH (I think). Simple title with nothing to add by the poster. It was the funniest thread I have ever seen.
I tried to find it but I know the title is spelled wrong.
Ok folks, carry on smartly.
And if that doesn’t work, the militia will be back to breaking down doors and kidnapping children.

Should I care? Im trying to figure out why this means squat.<<
I’m not sure. But keeping New Hampshire as the first primary the Democratic party does two things: they give a big boost to someone who can win in liberal state and likewise a boost to to a feisty small state.
If Florida had been the first state you’d be less likely to see candidates like Carter and Dukakis who ran insurgencies. If Florida goes first, the Democratic primary voters are still pretty liberal but now there will be a litmus test for raising lots of money early.
That will likely strengthen the average Democratic nominee since we are now in an era of candidate spending far beyond what would be provided if they take public financing - only big fund raisers need apply.
Should you care about Dean? If you want Republicans elected you should they keep him in job indefinitely. You’ve got a country divided 40/40/20 D/R/I and this guy’s first big action for the campaign is to kick out the the state that has been most pivotal in the last two elections.
This is great news. The RNC should immediately start running ads in Florida saying “the Democratic Party doesn’t want your vote, but we do.”
It means that many independent Florida voters who might have been leaning towards voting for a democrat will now likely look at the Democratic Party as a mean-spirited, corrupt organization trying to prevent them from having a say in the election. This may encourage them to vote Republican. Particulalrly if the RNC starts running ads telling the voters this.
Who will now decide how they will vote at the convention? Those votes are going to be controlled by somebody.
See what the boys in the backroom will have.
Have an interviewer ask "When did you leave the democrat party?" when they didn't want to count the military votes, when they said it was o.k. to lie under oath, when they voted for amnesty, when they said it was racist to build a fence, when hillary said she would take things away for our own good, when they added drug abuse to S.S. disability, when they sided with the enemy, when they complained about flags, when they called us homophobic for wanting to keep marriage traditional, when they called us racist for wanting voter i.d., when they said to bring back the draft, when they said voting for a white person was racist, when they called us sexist for supporting the unborn, when they lied about the 2000 recounts, when they demanded we retreat, when they said you get one free grope, etc.
Just a whole series of these ads with five or six people at a time. Get at least a hundred different people giving their answers. It would be a good softening up ad campaign before the election.
I wonder how crazy people at DU are getting. : )
Just looking at the comments at washintonpost makes me smile...lol.
Something like this happened not long before the Civil War. That involved the Democrats, too.
They were right.

I thought the superdelegates in the democRat party overrode the voters' delegates anyway. Am I misinformed about how the delegate process works in the democRat party?
I kinda liked the idea of having regional primaries, to allow candidates easier access to states.
The Midwest could be first (a combination of Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Illinois, INdiana, etc.
Followed by the Northeast, followed by the Deep/Middle Atlantic South, followed by the West Coast.
Candidates (both GOP and the Demhucksters) would have less travel time and more face to face time.
Less money spent on jets, and it would reduce the phenomenum of having Iowa/New Hampshire in effect deciding for the entire country.
