Those PPP's would be just the ticket for certain road projects if it weren't for the g*d-damned non-compete clauses! How's this for a compromise: allow any competing road improvements and new highways, as long as they're also PPP's (competitive bidding, not guaranteed to the company doing the original PPP). Will ya friggin' bankers and retirement fund managers be content with that???

As for the new toll roads here in the Austin area, the DOT has gone out of their way to make using the non-tolled a pain. You don’t use their precious TRs and you will sit in the kind of traffic you had before they were built... or worse.
