Once again our govt tells Americans to go to hell.
They are doing what they are going to do because they know best.
This is B.S. and citizens are going to die.

Couldn’t individual states make it so hard for these trucks that it wouldn’t be worth the hassle?

This is disgusting. How many will die before this nonsense stops?

MAN THE PHONES !

Okay, I’m bunkered down in the northern hinterlands, far from the battle in the Southwest.

What are we looking at in permitting Mexican trucks onto American roads?

Are the horror stories I read about Mexican truckers true?

From Mexico, Buenos Dias. Trucking has improved in Mexico over the years, and many successful truckers take great pride in their rigs, and many turnpikes here in Mexico display a large assortment of trucks. Steady there on your trigger finger, they are just men/women trying to eek out a living in a very competitive global world market. I remember going to Belgium and seeing the French trucks, German trucks, Swiss trucks all going up and down their highways. Hope to see some of the nicer truckers here in Mexico leaving their cargo, and getting some REAL Mexican food.

States can’t go against the Feds or they risk losing federal road funds.

“Are the horror stories I read about Mexican truckers true?”

As a matter of fact the stories are very true if you are talking about the conditions of equipment running the roads currently in Mexico, and the laws governing drivers and sleep time etc.

More to say, but have to get offline now.

“I remember going to Belgium and seeing the French trucks, German trucks, Swiss trucks all going up and down their highways.”

And that is one of our points you seem to miss.

Many of us do not want our country to be turned into a copy of the failed European union. This truck thing is just the beginning.

I don’t care how “nice” the trucks look.

And Mexican food is an enticer? That’s a new twist.

Will Mexican truckers carry an American CDL licsense?

Will they be required to pay the fees and over the road taxes that American Truck owners have to pay. These can run up to 20,000 dollars a year per truck for American truck companies.

On runs in-country here from Mexico will the Mexican trucks be able to pick up loads say in Boston and deliver in L.A., Florida...Alaska?

If any of this is true then this measure screws the American Trucker.

Where are the teamsters saying about this plan?

There is no certified laboratory in Mexico that can test drug and alcohol samples.
Mexico does not enforce hours-of-service regulations.
The Mexican Commercial Drivers License (CDL) has questionable medical standards and no real assurance that the license is authentic.

What this plan will certainly do is reduce the income of American truckers.
State databases in the United States do not adequately track Mexican drivers’ history. For example, the Transportation Department’s Office of Inspector General has reported that more than 40,000 traffic violations by Mexican drivers hadn’t been entered into the State of Texas’ database.

It’s time to JUST SAY NO. Do without.

That goes for schools, etc. as well. People can get by. Find a way. Preserve a Nation, state by state.

This will be a disaster for the American trucker!

Right now I pay between $2 and $2.5 dollars per mile to ship (I am a Freight Broker). I expect this to drop like a rock when the Mexicans invade.

American truckers will not be able to make truck payments and buy fuel and will be dropping like flies. Whithin a year (2 at most) the only thing on the road will be Mex truckers (IMHO).

“Preserve a Nation, state by state.”

Thank you for the ping!

The Federal vs. State and the “good” vs. “bad” illegal alien issues are, IMO, about to explode.

I am wondering how you and others here feel about attempts to differentiate between ‘illegal’ aliens vs. ‘criminal’ aliens? Would you be in favor of compromising/working out a deal to give amnesty (of any kind) to the majority of illegal aliens who would not be categorized as ‘criminal’ aliens? Would you support a presidential candidate who did?

Aside from the current attempt by the states to do what the Federal government has failed to do, do you see illegal immigration as a ‘social’ issue and would you support all of the issue’s legislative, citizenship, border, enforcement, etc. responsibilities, becoming entirely, individual ‘states-only’ issue and would you support a Presidential candidate who did? Or, do you think the Federal government should continue to ultimately be responsible for our nation’s border security and the enforcement of our immigration laws?

Will Elvira Arellano (the Chicago sanctuary illegal) be driving the first truck, in honor of her “heroism” and service to La Raza?!

So are American CITIZEN truckers, who have become a dying breed.
