I do the same thing! And I’m only 5’ - 119 lbs.
One of my former coworkers had a petite girlfriend. He told me if I was ever in a situation where a collision was imminent and there was no way to avoid it to cross my arms in front of me. I don’t know if this would help but it seems to make sense.
Lastly, isn’t it amazing how many of us Boomers survived driving in cars without carseats?! Of course, I do think people were better drivers back then and the cars were built like tanks too. My mom had a really cool red Chevy convertible - how I wish I could get that car back now - and we rode in it with (OMG) “no seat belts” or “air bags” of any kind and the speed limit was 75 MPH on the highway back then.
No seat belts!! My gawd, that’s almost as bad as the passel of kids and dogs my dad used to haul around in the back of the pickup truck!! Amazingly ... we all survived. No thanks to the Nanny Staters.
I'm 5'1" and was in an accident where the airbag deployed. It broke my glasses, and left a "smack" mark on my cheek that faded after a couple of hours, but that was it. Obviously, the bag didn't hit me straight on. I don't know how much difference that may make.
Beware that the powder in them will irritate your eyes.
