WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Civilian casualties remain high, sectarian groups can't get along, al Qaeda in Iraq is still pulling off high-profile attacks and "to date, Iraqi leaders remain unable to govern effectively," said the declassified version of the National Intelligence Estimate released Thursday. The intelligence community briefed the media on the assessment hours after senior Bush administration officials told CNN the classified version of the report expressed doubts that Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki is able to lead the war-torn country. The report concluded that al-Maliki may not have the ability or capacity to "push forward" legislative reforms, according to one of the officials who read the classified version. The declassified version, however, points to the security situation, political system and economy as hindrances to Iraqi progress and states that improvements in these areas are "unlikely to emerge unless there is a fundamental shift in the factors driving Iraqi political and security developments." The report stated the Iraqi government was making strides in the economic realm but that "structural problems continue to prevent sustained progress in economic growth and living conditions."

Civilian casualties are high, gangs (tribes) can’t get along, the government cannot bring peace, etc, etc. Sounds like Philadelphia, DC or Chicago to me.

“intelligence community”?
You mean the C.I.A., N.S.A. etc.?
I have NO faith in our intelligence community.
Ya know the fall of the Soviet Union thing and 9-11, and so many other “intelligence failures”.

Intelligence estimate? By the CIA? Do we have a credible intelligence agency? Remember the CIA is against the war. Who can we believe?

Wow! Talk about a libtard scatter-gun! They about covered it all in one sentence. That sentence ought to feed their lib-sheep.... and I hate it when "groups can't get along"... just damn!

The same intelligence community that missed all the signs prior to 9/11 and lost track of Saddam’s WMD? The one that spawned Joey and Val? That intelligence community? They have no credibility.

Exactly. We know that many of our intel. “secrets” were leaked to the MSM and Dimocraps by traitors in the CIA. Now, the intel. community provides cover for the Democrats. I don’t believe many in the thinking community are surprised.
