Perhaps we should advise the EU to re-institute the death penalty. I’m sure they’d appreciate our advice.

Why they bother with the full appeals process is beyond me. There should be one automatic review of the case at the state supreme court, with maybe a month, probably less, after sentence is passed for the sides to prepare arguments. The governor has one week after the conviction and sentence are upheld to consider a commutation, a stay, or a pardon. After that week, sentence is carried out.
There it is. Quick and fair. We could even shell out to appoint and pay the best possible defense attorneys for the defendant, just to make sure there's no grounds for appeal on the basis of incompetent defense, which is the most common reason a death sentence is overturned.

Who says they’re in heaven?

Why are we counting? Id rather have a running total of the victims of these dirt bags murders. Obviously, the victim count would be higher.
I think the national average of death sentences passed per homicide is somewhere between 1% and 2%. That means that for every death sentence passed, there are 50-100 homicide victims. Note I said death sentences passed, not executions carried out. That means that it's probably closer to 300+.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, there were 55,922 murders from 1976 to 2005.

“I hope Texas did this in response to the E.U. yesterday asking them to stop the death penalty.”
Sorry to burst your bubble, but that isn’t he reason we greased this clown. We here in Texas do not actually give a tinkers’s d@amn what Euros or anyone else, for that matter, thinks of us.
You may think that we were just bragging, but it is simply true.
Couldn’t care less...

What do Muslims do on the 73d day in Heaven?
Well, as it turns out some smart Muslim doubters asked that very question some time ago. The Immans came up with the answer that the virgins in heaven are a special kind of woman that does not exist on earth. Those women are perpetual virgins, do not menstrate, ever get B.O., don’t nag, and etc.
I’m not making this up.
