Yes, but they give all Republicans a hard time. However, it is interesting WHO they choose to focus on. Like it or not, they are ok with Thompson because he is an actor. Like it or not, they can relate to that.

Thompson hasn’t done a lot. This is all principal. Compare him to Hunter...Hunter can be judged on his ACTIONS not just his words.

You’ve been suckered in to like Thompson, by the same media you say “hates Thompson”.

OK...If Fred Thompson HAD NEVER BEEN AN ACTOR, would ANY of us OR the Media be talking about right now?

The answer is NO!

He is in the media as much as he is BECAUSE he is an actor. Regardless of what the media says about him, he is constantly there.

You got suckered into thinking its a Grass Roots movement, because Thompson has PR contacts in the media which created all this.

I’d rather vote for Hunter who has an ACTUALLY record of conservatism, than a false Ronald Reagan!

Please read more carefully. I didn’t say I was Fred, I said I helped PICK Fred, unlike the loony-bird notion that the East-coast media picked him.

Hunter deserves better than your gnattery.

Actually, I’ve listened to him and read a number of his pieces which he himself writes. I like Hunter too and you are correct as to the media’s blackout of him. Gotta get some work done, have a great day...

>>>>>>OK...If Fred Thompson HAD NEVER BEEN AN ACTOR, would ANY of us OR the Media be talking about right now?

Now that is pure hypothetical BS. History is what it is, chum. FredT has gained significant support at the expense of Rooty Toot. That is a fact. FredT made no move in running for POTUS. Not until grassroots conservatives like myself saw what choices we had.

Giuliani the liberal is totally out of the question. Romney the centrist is only marginally better than Rooty. McCain angers conservatives too much. FredT heard the calling and began testing the waters. We'll see what happens if and when he makes it official. I like his chances at this point.

Rudy in NH town hall, it was very interesting. There are several videos of the same meeting. He schools the questioners carefully. Not with the usual “I feel your pain” answers.

Yes, I’m afraid he is. He’s been on life support since Ames and the plug will be pulled sooner rather than later.

How can he “lead” when he doesn’t show up at his job as a “lawmaker” nearly 30% of the time?

So you know better than the actual people who are behind drafting Fred?

You know nothing. I, and many other Thompson supporters, have been watching him for over a decade. I never thought I would have a chance to vote for him.

You are completely ignorant.

Yes, right now the polls are totally meaningless.

I’ll start paying more attention after the first of the year.

In March the polls will start to become interesting.

He’ll lead us to nothing but a whole lot of pork barrel spending on teapot museums and end of life electronics disposal plants. And he’ll bore us to tears along the way, growling on and on about his wall and the exact thickness of it and what gauge screws are to be used where. He’s a micromanager. Micromanagers aren’t leaders.

Duncan Hunter is a career representative who should have made some moves earlier in his career, if he wanted to lead something. A guy who has one of the worst attendance records in the house needs to be disciplined, not promoted to commander in chief.

One thing I wonder is this: how is the average GOP primary voter ever going to become familiar with all the Republican candidates when the MSM focuses almost exclusively on the Democrats?

Hunter won’t be gone.

I like the man, but it takes a lot of money to run a campaign these days. How much will he be able to raise after someone who is very close to his views, and who also has tons more name recognition and charisma, joins the race? Methinks not too much, and that'll force him out. It is a pity - Hunter would make and excellent President.

Hunter doesn’t have any money as it is.
He’s clearly not running to win, but perhaps he’s auditioning for Secretary of Defense.

Fred's coming, and things won't be remotely the same afterwards. Most of the other candidates (McStain, Hunter, Huckabee, Tancredo, Brownback & Paul) will be gone shortly thereafter, and Thompson will take most of their voters and money, thereby giving him a clear lead. Rudy and Romney will be politically doomed from that point.

I tend to agree with that statement, but I’m not going to take off the Hunter ‘08 bumper sticker until after the Primaries.

Obviously, the answer is no. Thompson is no different politically than Bill Frist. Same ACU, same length of service in Congress. His acting career is the only difference. Another thing to consider are the roles he's played. DA's, military guys, etc. If he had done a lot of roles as "the bad guy" or less manly roles, it's unlikely he would be given much credence.

But hey, perception is reality.
