If you’ve been dreaming about breaking the world record for fluke, you may need to dream a little bigger. On Friday, a potential International Game Fish Association (IGFA) world-record summer flounder was decked south of Shrewsbury Rocks, two miles off Monmouth Beach, N.J., by Monica Oswald.

Eh, if you read the article, a lot suspicious about it. She left it in the cooler overnight outside and it was “ravaged by animals.”
Pacific Halibut and Summer Flounder (Fluke) are completely different species.
There’s also Atlantic Halibut, which can be hundreds of pounds, but they were massively overfished and there are very few of them left. They’re also a different species.
Awwww, isn’t it cute? It looks a little like a tiny little baby halibut!
My uncle’s 14’ boat was nearly capsized by a halibut he thought was dead, when it started thrashing around.

using a ling jig fer crying out loud. I love surf fishing. That must a nice stretch to fish. I didn’t read but am guessing 11 pounds. My friend caught a 9 plus pounder flounderunder San Luis Pier once time about 10 years ago. We call em doormats too.

Sorry, I have to laugh at all you damned Yanks. That’s not a fish, it’s some sort of leaf or garbage or something....Now a bluegill, THAT’S a fish....:)

We could flounder around for the halibut over flatfish definitions and any consensus we came to would be a fluke.
