China said Wednesday it had discovered many safety problems with soybeans imported from the United States, urging US authorities to deal with the problem.
"Inspection and quarantine units in various areas have discovered a large number of quality and safety problems with imports of US soybeans," the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said.
"We have reported this to the US side, demanding that it look into the causes and adopt effective measures to ensure that a situation like this does not repeat itself," it said on its website.
It detailed a series of safety problems, including the discovery of sorghum halepense and other exotic harmful weeds among the soybeans.
There was no mention in the statement of any plan to restrict or halt imports of US soybeans.
Recent global scares over the safety of China's exports -- ranging from toys to clothes to toothpaste -- have not made major headlines in the nation's state-run media.
However, frequent reports have emerged about safety problems in goods imported into China, especially from the United States.
On Monday, China said it had returned 272 heart pacemakers imported from the United States after they failed quality inspections.
The Xinhua news agency quoted the general administration as saying the pacemakers posed potential threats to patients' lives as they could cause misdiagnoses.
They are such evil bastards.
If they think the their threat of rejecting some of our exports is gonna scare me into buying their crap, they are sadly mistaken.
China remains a 3rd world country, incapable of the responsible behavior of a modern industrial state.
Anti-freeze, sprayed liberally over the soy beans, will kill the effects of Johnson grass.
LOL! My only real laugh today! Thanks!
I already have, but I no longer trust labels. I would like to buy everything that says "Made in U.S.A.", but try and find them. I recently read here on FR about diabetic test strips from China that don't work. So, as a diabetic, I looked at my test strips and lancets and found one was made in Germany and one was made in Japan. I guess that's better than China, but I would still like to buy products made in the good old U.S.A.
It’s the ChiComs fault.(The pot calling the kettle black.)
They should have a look at what they are doing themselves.
Look at how many shoddy and substandard goods they are churning out in their quest to seize as many U.S. dollars as they can get their greedy grubby hands on.
One example is painting childrens toys with lead paint because they are too lazy to do quality control.Another example is dyeing blankets with formaldahyde to enhance the fabric.(thus poisoning the user.)
Another example is putting glycol (antifreeze)in tooth paste because of it’s pretty blue color.(just don’t swallow!)
I would like to see a worldwide boycott of the next Olympic games because of where it is held.(China of course)
Since the end of july I have boycotted as many “Made in China” goods as I can.(That means I have spent virtually nothing, because there is almost nothing that hasn’t been made in China.)
It is almost impossible to buy locally made products here in Australia.A lot of the time I rely on Ebay to buy product directly from the U.S.(Or make the item myself)
Our markets have been flooded with substandard and inferior products. Here is a good example= $5.00 walkman ear buds.Made in China. Average life expectany is about two weeks. That means the replacement cost for the whole year is approx.$120.00.
Another thing is that China keeps blaming western countries for global warming when it’s the ChiComms them selves polluting our planet.
Ww should tell them we grew those soybeans in the burial grounds of all our dead pets that succumbed to their poison wheat gluten.
On the other hand, they may like that idea.
Good grief. Either China has absolutely no QC (quality control) or it is intentionally trying to poison us and our pets.
From funding of terroristic opponents to freedom and "democracy" to deadly and unsafe products to environmental desecration. Red China is on a collision course with the rest of humanity. Their leadership is dogmatic and unwieldy. Their military is unpredictable and unbalanced. Their industry is driven by the same profit and market control desires that the Communist creators railed against in their treatises against unmanaged capitalism.
It is simply a matter of time before there is a reckoning between Red China and the forces of freedom.
Namely, us.
