File this in the category of Revealing Much More Than Intended.
A print ad for a new computer processor made by Intel Corp. was yanked before it ever appeared in the United States, with one minor exception.
The ads problem? At the very least, its racist.

This article is pathetic on so many levels. It’s more than I have time to parse.
waaaaay too much time on their hands...
The ad makes no sense because you cannot see the sprinters’ legs. Without being able to see the legs and the blocks, which is really where it is at with sprinters, it is not immediately apparent what the athletes are doing.
What you so see is the athletes bent over with their hands on the ground. Given no readily apparent reason for them to be doing so, it is not unrealistic to suppose that they are bowing.
And the fact that they are all African American is just icing on the cake.
It’s a stupid ad, I’ll admit, but only a fat, moonbat, lesbian could read all that into it... Oh wait...
To Self...don’t comment...don’t...AAAAAAARRRRRRRRGH!...NO, don’t comment.
OK...war within me is over...NO Comment.
lol
Actually, knowing a few PR types, this author is dead-on to what most PR people would say.
PR people worry about the stuff that we don’t directly notice, but still registers in our “gut”. They know that 90% of the message is visual, and I don’t mean words. The idea for that ad should’ve died stillborn.
As an IT guy, what it means is that some IT exec gets to play God, Nero, Napoleon. It certainly does look like the cube slaves are bowing, or at least, that’s a reasonable first impression.
For instance, these were the people who insisted that Pres. Reagan be surrounded by American flags in any TV appearance. That way, even in news reports that were hostile to Reagan showed him surrounded by flags, cheering crowds, etc. While the words might’ve been negative, the pic was always positive.
“Its a stupid ad, Ill admit, but only a fat, moonbat, lesbian could read all that into it... Oh wait...”
Aside from the pic, do you have proof of this ad hominem attack? What does that comment have to do with anything she said?
Yet more fuel for those who say we’re a hate site...
I'll just wait for your apology then, shall I? Or were you taking about my calling her a moonbat?
“Yet more fuel for those who say were a hate site...”
Buddy, if that post is what you think gets this site attention as a “hate site”, you are delusional. Compared to what’s said about others here, that was a very mild comment.
“I’ll just wait for your apology then, shall I?”
Don’t hold your breath. The local PC patrol apologizes to no one.
Mea Culpa. I do apologize.
I still have no clue what that comment has to do w/ the editor.
Apology accepted.
Hey, I live in San Francisco fercrissakes. I can smell the origins of a particular style of argumentation from a mile away. Call it “gaydar” if you want. Comes in handy up here.
Uh, because advertisers often make different versions for the different markets. Japanese Pepsi ads will often use *gasp* Japanese actors!
Dumb ad though.
Ping for later...
The writer, Candace Talmadge, professes to know all about sprinters, but take one look at her and you know the only sprinting she’s ever done has been to the front of the buffet line!
Because the ad was targeted at India? Just a wild guess.
D'OH!
Incidentally, if this clueless woman can guess the ethnicity of those workers", she's a better man than I am (glasses or no).
The eternal Marxist pursuing their current weapon of choice: eternal victimhood.
Just saying.
