But this is not just a problem for Argentina and small economies. It is a global challenge that is without precedent. The United States, for example, has just realized that 85 percent of its toys are made in China and 50 percent of its seafood is imported from there. This is a staggering market capture greater than Britains world trade dominance in the 19th Century and Americas dominance through much of the last century. Maybe it's not protectionism as much as it is the realization that countries are becoming fully dependent on one nation to provide it's food and goods. This is not wise as it provides that one nation with potentially overwhelming power.

We will do well to emulate Argentina but we have too many madmen/idiots/traitors who believe 850 billion dollar trade deficits are a positive for us.
