Only in a totally left wing country could national socialists be right wing.
The National Socialist Workers Party were more ethnically patriotic than the World Workers Party.
Both, however, were variety of socialist workers party.
The problem is that left and right have so many possible interpretations on so many levels that the words in itself barely manage to mean anything definitive. If we look at:
"internationalist" vs. "nationalist"
"progressive" vs. "conservative"
"egalitarian(?)" vs. "elitist"
etc. etc. etc.
, we can safely say the Nazis were probably Right-Left-Rightists. Which may also explain the Goosestepping as a complicated metaphor of their political standpoint :)
