The national convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, which will take place in Kansas City, Mo., is attracting a number of A-list speakers, including President Bush on his way back to Texas from Canada.
Bush will speak Wednesday before an expected audience of 5,800 VFW and Ladies Auxiliary delegates.
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) are set to address the meeting today. Tomorrow, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and still-undeclared Fred D. Thompson (R-Tenn.) will speak.
The VFW convention is not a standard campaign stop, according to VFW National Commander Gary Kurpius, and he said it is unprecedented to have candidates address the organization before winning the nomination.
Thompson also plans to speak this week at the 2007 Midwest Republican Leadership Conference, which is scheduled to run Friday through Sunday in Indianapolis. Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney is also set to address the crowd.

AOPA ePilot Special Airspace Bulletin August 20, 2007
A special notice to pilots in the western Missouri area
==> ATTENTION PILOTS <==
FAA TO ESTABLISH TFR OVER KANSAS CITY TUESDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY
AOPA is sending this message to advise pilots in and near Kansas City,
Missouri, that the FAA has issued a notam restricting flight in the area
during President Bush’s planned overnight visit from Tuesday, August 21,
through Wednesday, August 22.
There will be a large 30-nautical-mile-radius temporary flight restriction
(TFR) centered on the MCI VOR’s 145-degree radial at 14.6 miles, extending
up to Flight Level 180. It will be in effect from 8:15 p.m. local on Tuesday
until 1:30 p.m. local on Wednesday. Also, there will be multiple smaller
10-nm-radius GA no-fly zones in effect within the larger TFR during that
time frame. See AOPA Online for the full text of the notam along with a
graphical depiction ( http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/notams.html#7/3811 ).
The affected landing facilities are Charles B. Wheeler Downtown (MKC),
Lee’s Summit Municipal (LXT), Roosterville (0N0), Kansas City International
(MCI), Hillside (63K), Johnson County Executive (OJC), Martens (4MO8),
Cedar Air Park (51K), Rollert Farm (29MO), East Kansas City (3GV),
Lcf Heliport (SN60), Mount Muncie (72KS), Neu Field (8KS1), Midwest
National Air Center (GPH), Pine Sod Ranch (8KS7), New Century Aircenter
(IXD), West Aero Ranch (6MO9), Harry S. Truman Regional (2M1), Albright
(SN78), Excelsior Springs Memorial (3EX), Sherman AAF (FLV), Gardner
Municipal (K34), Friends Field (4MO9), Block Air Village (MO71), Mac’s
Field (7MO6), Northwood (2MO2), Triple R (0C1), Lawrence Smith Memorial
(LRY), Lawrence Municipal (LWC), Hilltop (MU62), Crosswind Airfield (SN88),
and Threshing Bee (5KS1).
Because TFR airspace frequently changes, AOPA strongly encourages
pilots to obtain a briefing and CHECK NOTAMS before every flight.
TFR violators will be intercepted and forced to land.
