I believe he is more libertarian on this subject and others like it. I remember he said something to the effect that if you do drugs, that is YOUR stupidity. He says he never did drugs OR alcohol.
He does drink, but not to excess. I remember an interview he did a long time ago and he referred to his drink, saying something along the lines of, "I was a better man before I drank this Kahlua."
In the VH1 TV show, he was seen drinking wine with meals.
Of course, drinking alcohol isn't bad, just if done to excess. And I don't believe that Ted's done that.
