Take a look at my post which you first responded to.

I said we either need to make have the parking lot handicap accessible or put the handicap spots at the outer edges for those who don’t have a cane or chair need.

And by the way, my grandmother at 92 and with hip surgery drove her own car around and never wanted a handicap sticker or card.

Nice to see you sucking it up for the 50-something men.

“Nice to see you sucking it up for the 50-something men.”

You are a maroon, a real arm chair tough guy...and looks like a licensed doctor to boot. The irony of you one day possibly being in my situation-—or the situation of any other FReeper with a real medical handicap-—and begging your physician for a handicap parking placard puts a smile on my face.

Don’t bother answering. I’m not wasting anymore time with an opinionated nitwit, and I don’t need a medical degree to make that diagnosis.

Congratulations regarding your grandmother, she sounds like a tough lady.

There are those people (myself included) who behave a certain way and work up a righteous indignation at those who do differently. I never litter and I get plenty PO'd at those who do. knowing someone else who arguably should have obtained a handicap hanger and didn't (of course, it was her choice) and getting worked up over that? Well, I think that takes a special person. There are people who abuse the system but don't dump on those who do need it because of those who use it and don't need it, or need it and don't use it.

The reality is that when someone pulls into an H-space and has the credentials they should be left alone. No one there has the intel to decide if that person is using that space validly, nor do they have the right to quiz that person to find out.

There are plenty of things in the world to get steamed up about w/out inventing extra based on imagined "facts".

And BTW, for the record, I think the author is intentionally blowing this out of proportion to make the point, but the point is still valid so I’ll say it again: when someone pulls into an H-space and has the credentials they should be left alone. No one has the information to decide that the person is not using that space validly, nor do they have the right to quiz that person to find out. It is a simple matter of civility.

And let’s be realistic… if you say something to anyone churlish enough to abuse an HC sticker they will not be nonplussed; they will ignore you. I have yet to say something to a person WITHOUT an HC tag or hanger and have them actually move their car; they usually tell me I'm number 1 in their book and continue to jog into the store.

So then, in the case where credentials are there – three options 1) offend wrongly, 2) be ignored by a jacka$$, or 3) stay silent. Seems like an easy choice to me.

Good for your grandmother. Apparently, her body was able to heal well.

But how about backing off of these older men? Some of these guys’ bodies has taken a life-time of beating within a few years in places like ‘Nam. My nephew in Iraq is already dealing with knee pain, and he’s only 21. Makes me sick to my stomach thinking how much he’s going to hurt later on.
