Saw your screen name and tagline and thought I would pass along something I picked up when my dad and I both worked in the Engineering department for the Colorado State Highway Dept. It is the "definition" of an Engineer. We felt that it really hit home with some of the design engineers and the test engineers, but I would suspect that anyone in the field could find someone to apply it to. You've probably seen it or something like it before, but here it is:

DEFINITION OF AN ENGINEER

"An Engineer is one who passes as an exacting expert on the strength of being able to turn out with prolific fortitude strings of incomprehensible formulae calculated with micrometric precision from extremely vague assumptions which are based on debatable figures acquired from inconclusive tests and quite incomplete experiments carried out with instruments of problematic accuracy by persons of doubtful reliability and rather dubious mentality with particular anticipation of disconcerting and annoying everyone outside of their own fraternity."

Ah, very nice! Good to see that Annapolis fondly remembers one of its graduates in this way.

Great find, thanks again.

Regards,

PS: I met RAH once when I was younger, not long before he died...he liked my red hair and made me blush. It was one of the highlights of my young adulthood.
