This is America, speak English or go home. What is this supposed to mean?
I am American and (obviously) I speak English. I also understand German and found this German article, which I didn't write. Had no time to translate it to English yet, but I'll try later.
I thought it would be interesting for fellow Freepers to see what the European press has say about us and our work, and this article was rather positive.
If it's not allowed on FR to post articles untranslated a Mod may pull it, or just leave the link.

Thanks for posting ....good to see JV getting some nice press.

Here is my suggestion to you, please do not take this in a bad way, but only in the constructive way I mean it:
If you don’t have time to translate it, then don’t post it until you do have time. That way the 95% of FReepers who aren’t well versed in German may understand it.
Otherwise, you’re really not helping, and instead confusing most folks.

If you don’t have the time or didn’t have the time to translate it, why are you still here? How many of us do you think speak German? At the least you should have waited until you had time before even posting the article. As a wild guess, I would say the less than one quarter of one percent here speak German. This article is useless. Please don’t post anything in Chinese.

I certainly appreciate your efforts! jveritas slogged through thousands and thousands of documents found in Iraq, and I certainly appreciate his efforts, too. I am glad he’s finally getting some recognition for it.

I’m guessing he was joking; I thought his post was funny.
But thanks for posting, it would be good to see it translated.

I decided to work on the translation around doing other things here, and I didn't really read throughall the posts.
I find it hard to believe that some people were actually busting your chops for posting the article and trying to get a translation.
It's an important article.
First of all, jveritas made it onto a major European publication as the major player in a sucessful grass roots iniative and he deserves the recognition.
Secondly, the article presents FReepers as enthusiastic activists who are willing to work for a cause and are willing and thankful to be able to help out where they can.
That's why I feel this was an important article for the Freerepublic community and I think you deserve to be acknowledged for finding it and posting it.
So, that being said, thank you very much for posting the article and trying to get it translated.

I say post it, perhaps with a small English recap. We must have other speakers of foreign languages, in this case German, who might see it and chime in on it. (And so much the better if you [or someone else] find the time to translate).
I'm grateful for the article and your commentary. fh
To: SolidWood
I think they meant that comment as sarcasms.
