MANCHESTER, N.H. -- A day after urging people to "leave my family alone," Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani on Friday said he'll talk about his family _ on his terms.
"Sure I will," Giuliani told reporters outside a cafe where he visited with voters. "But I'll talk about it appropriately, and in a way to preserve as much as I can the privacy of my family and my children, which I think any decent person would."
Giuliani asked again _ as he did Thursday _ that people judge him on his record as New York City mayor and a federal prosecutor.
"I think the best thing to do is to concentrate on the public things that I accomplished," he said. "Measure that, take a look at that, and then see how much do newspapers really have to probe into these things, or how much of it is being done really for reasons that have nothing to do with measuring public performance."
On Thursday, Giuliani was asked by a voter in Derry, N.H., why he should expect loyalty from GOP voters when his children aren't backing him. His daughter has indicated support for Democrat Barack Obama, and his son has said he didn't speak to his father for some time.
Giuliani and their mother, Donna Hanover, had a nasty and public divorce while Giuliani was New York's mayor, and he has since remarried.
Giuliani also reiterated that his faith is private. Last week, asked in Iowa if he is a traditional, practicing Catholic, Giuliani insisted his faith should be private. Giuliani is at odds with church teaching because of his support for abortion rights and because he remarried without obtaining an annulment.

can't wait to see how the vultures react to this. for my part, I'd have answered in a similar fashion. this is why Rudy works: because for all his faults he has a backbone.

Yeah...I
KNOW this is a reposting, but it's applicable.
Being a "only married once" man to the same woman for 24 years doesn't qualify me for much. It does qualify me to say that a certain amount of "stick-to-it" is required at a bare MINIMUM. After that, high character and integrity are a plus. I was USAF/AD through the Clinton reign (actually prior to, and after as well) and I can personally attest to the strains that active duty can put on a marriage...especially one where there are children in the mix. I saw married couples drop away like flies because of the situation. I remember being in disbelief when a policy of co-ed dorms came into effect and how certain of us thought it was a very bad idea...and it was!
My point is that we were working under much less than optimal conditions required to hold a marriage together, and a good many of us simply refused to betray our wives in the face of temptation.
But the cross dresser was living "well" and had it good and still betrays his wife and family. This speaks volumes about the man and certainly marks him for what he is. He is somebody who simply can't be trusted, and should be marked and remembered as a dangerous individual. Certainly he should not be considered for any political office where he can effect change on even a small percentage of the populace.
If he can't be faithful to a single person (his wife), then what's to make me think that he can be faithful to an entire nation?
But stupid people want to "believe" that his personal life can be separated from his professional life, when in fact they look inwardly and know that this is a lie. We all work with "somebody" who has done things like Rudy in his personal life, and we know that those people usually lack character and integrity. But when it comes to a world class con man like Rudy, they all wave their little GOP flags with "Vote Giuliani" on it and hold fast to the thought that he's better than Hillary and hope they don't get raped too badly by the time it's all over with. Because in their hearts, they know he's a bad example of who we need to hold the Executive Office.
I think too many people are making up excuses for these stinking RINOs because the truth of the situation simply frightens them and they don't want to talk about it. They don't won't to admit that the GOP has gone to hell and abandoned us.
These people who support these RINOs such as Giuliani are hoping for the lesser of two evils and they know this. But they're going to get the worse of two evils. This is because the GOP is SPLIT. Too many people are going to vote for independents and we will be INEFFECTIVE as a conservative voter base!
So by them hoping for the lesser of two evils, they're going to get the worst! They're cowards though and are afraid to even talk about this, but I can assure you that if given a choice between Hillary and Giuliani we'll vote for Hillary just to "bring it on". At least we know what to expect from the likes of Hillary. Giuliani though pretends to "represent" us and then Lord knows what he'll do if he were to be appointed to the Executive Office.
In truth, I'll pencil in a name on a ballot before voting for Hillary if the only choices were Hillary and Giuliani, but the outcome will be the same. We'll have the
Witch in the Pants Suit holding the Executive Office and as our Commander in Chief.
Seriously, the morons supporting Giuliani,McCain, and Romney need to snap out of it, otherwise we're in for a lot of grief.

this is why Rudy works: because for all his faults he has a backbone. Hillary has a backbone, too. Unfortunately, both are liberals to the bone.

The person who asked that question was our own Katherine Prudhomme O’Brien. Slimeball George Stephanopoulos called her a professional stalker on Good Morning America yesterday. He also falsely claimed that she has confronted Bill Clinton. That is a lie, and he should be made to apologize.

I don't see America as just the Ozzie and Harriettes or "the rest". I think there are many in betweens. We don't expect a zero divorce rate, or that everyone will always be faithful. But for God's sake, rudi has a history of marital infidelity, of appointing his friends to positions of authority, of defying Federal law, and lashing out with a quick temper. All of those things add up and show a serious lack of character.
Perhaps you want a bill clinton as president again, but I don't.

"But I'll talk about (my family) appropriately, and in a way to preserve as much as I can the privacy of my family and my children, which I think any decent person would." Problem is Rooty Tooty----you are not a "decent person"----especially when it comes to your family.
A "decent person" would have attended his son's high school graduation.
A "decent person" would not throw his wife and kids out on the streets so he could blank his mistress' brains out in his marital home.
A "decent person" would not have paraded his mistress up and down NYC streets w/ photographers present so your kids would not fail to miss the evilness of your actions.
If you were a "decent person" you could have celebrated your daughter's graduation instead of having to slip out the back door so you wouldn't be embarrased by your daughter's obvious scorn for you.

This issue of politicians CON MEN demanding to have their personal lives separated from their professional lives is a huge crock of stinky poo. We'll give them no quarter and continue to do our best to convince others what terrible examples of people they truly are.

this is the real two americas. the ozzie's and harriettes, and the rest of us. Your point is evidently that people who are loyal to their spouses and involved in the upbringing of their children are beneath contempt. That is certainly the message of the Giuliani campaign. Hillary is a better role model for family values.

because for all his faults he has a backbone.
The same can be said for Adolph Hitler, Joe Stalin, Benito Mussolini, Idi Amin, Al Capone, Fidel Castro, Bashir Al-Assad, Yassir Araffat, Pol Pot, and too many others to mention.
Lets not confuse boldness with uprightness and correctness of character....things which the cross dressing wierd-o (Rudy Giuliani) is devoid of.

Turdiani’s planning to use his kids as pawns in his campaign scam.
“I’ll Discuss My Family My Way”-—translation-—”I gotta stall for time.”
Obviously, Turdiani can’t “talk” about his family for public consumption unless he does some major fence-mending.
I just hope Caroline and Andrew have the backbone and character their father lacks....... and will refuse to become political pawns in Rooty’s evil game.

I understand that marriages fail, and those who claim socons have our heads in the sand about divorce are wrong. I fully understand that sometimes people change and a divorce is inevitable, what I do not and will not excuse is choosing anyone over your own children.
Rudi's sorted personal life takes precidence over his own flesh and blood. He chooses women over his own children and that is more than a character flaw. It shows he has no ability to love. Judi can claim all she wants that he is a loving man, but his love is at the moment and hormone driven.
Any man or woman who can disgard a child is beneath contempt.
