THE SICKO DOCUMENTARY IS BANNED IN CUBA

Havana, August 6, 2007.-There is no doubt that the Cuban authorities will not allow the Cuban people the possibility of watching this documentary by Michael Moore, a leading movie producer and ideological ally of the Cuban regime. Although it might look contradictory, the propaganda used in the film to discredit the USA health system while trying to highlight the excellence of the Cuban health system, turned out to be considered “subversive” by the Cuban regime. It so happens that he based his arguments on gross lies that do not represent at all the Cuban health drama.

It is well known over the world that Fidel Castro went to look for a Spanish doctor when he had a health crisis. A few years ago the Under Secretary of Health, Abelardo Ramirez, went to France for medical treatment where he underwent surgery for a gastric cancer that eventually took his life. In the same manner, the neurosurgeon Domingo, a doctor who is part of Fidel Castro’s personal medical team and Chief of the CIMEQ Hospital, went to England to avail himself of Ophthalmologic services for surgical treatment for his eyes problems, periodically returning there for checkups.

How come that those who are part of the top echelon of the government, having access to all the privileges and resources the country offers to them, when their own health problems are at stake they showlittle or no confidence in the “competent revolutionary medicine”.

The Cuban health system can be described with one word: Chaos. The majority of the installations are in ruins, with continued great physical deterioration coupled with disastrous operating conditions. In contrast, the exclusive medical institutions, reserved for foreigners with hard currency, members of the “ruling elite” and the high ranking military personnel offer excellent medical services.

What an ironic twist. "Sicko" is banned in Cuba, because if they show it to Cubans--- it will be a "Castrostrophe" for the regime.

You mean that ordinary Cubans would recognize Castro/Moore’s Potemkin Village while the western media couldn’t? You don’t say...

You know you’ve got a problem when a Communist nation bans your Communist propaganda. No biggie. The Hollyweird crowd will still bury Moore in awards and trophies. He’s their boy.

In conclusion, it does not surprise anybody in Cuba, that Michael Moore would choose the “Almeijeiras” Hospital to demonstrate the excellence of the Cuban Health System. The explanation is simple: none of the ruinous hospitals available to the Cuban people could have been used to film his ill intentioned documentary.

Excellent article. Viva le Revolucion de Pollo.

I don’t think Moore is even fooling the liberals with this one.

An opportunist making money selling lies.

Is there another source for this? He barely touches on what the headline states. This would be great on drudge, but there needs to be more info...

There’s a little independent “art-house” theater in my town. It’s run by a gentle-hearted man who, I believe, is somewhat of a lefty.

He showed “Sicko” for about a week, then moved on.

OK. Now I understand why they don't want to show the movie there. People will revolt if they see how 'good' the hospital shown in the movie compared to the ones they usually go to.

Is there another source for this?

I think this was from an original Spanish article translated into English by Dr. Roberto A. Galloso [see bottom of article]. I just stumbled on it & have no other sources.

I'm not surprised, though. I haven't seen it reported anywhere in the liberal Mainstream Media. Wonder why?

THE SICKO DOCUMENTARY IS BANNED IN CUBA

And Moore will say nothing. Imagine if the US government would ban it?

That cartoon represents Canadian healthcare, which is several orders of magnitude BETTER than Cuban healthcare. Cuban healthcare is more like....

“Sorry, Luisa, there is still no radiation therapy for Cubans, only for visiting Canadians & Europeans with US$” and ...

“bad news, Felipe, there are no hospital beds, but there are plenty of prison dungeons if any of us complain” and...

“that heart medicine you were waiting for, Miguel, it doesn’t exist because the government confiscated the American humanitarian shipment, and sold it on the black market to financed their hookers... I guess the good news is that your daughters were all have jobs now”

Bingo.

The Mariel boatlift started when Castro announced that anyone who wanted to leave Cuba just needed to visit the Peruvian embassy, starting a massive exodus.

The Berlin Wall fell when an East German minister mistakenly announced travel restrictions would be lifted - the Wall was essentialy meaningless within hours and physically gone in a day.

What do you think will happen if Cubans are allowed to see a film that claims that quality healthace is available for all Cubans in Havana? Quite an uncomfortable day for everyone in the island paradise’s capital.

The Big Question is, Who was sicker: Sicko Moore or Fidel "Baby Hugo" Castro?

(Whatever, they both deserved the Castro's health care system.)

Only their proctologists knew for sure.

While surfing for anti-Michael Moore sites, I saw an ad saying “We are the Cban hospital featured in Michael Moore’s “Sicko” movie. We do open heart surgery starting at just $15,000. We can arrange for your transportation from the USA to Cuba.” I am serious.

Wait! What happened to the 5 cent inhalers and free treatment for U.S. vets?
