Bush stands on the wrong side of the street

Morristown Mayor Don Cresitello has a problem: Because of MS-13, he needs 287(g). Got that? Maybe not. I'll explain. "MS-13" stands for "Mara Salvatrucha," which is generally referred to as a Salvadoran gang, though that designation grossly libels the proud people of El Salvador, a country that ranks among my favorite places. MS-13 was in fact founded in California, no doubt by hoodlums whom the Salvadorans in their wisdom booted out of the country.

As for "287(g)," that is a section of federal statute that permits state and local law enforcement officials to enforce federal immigration law against MS-13 and similar miscreants.

"I had MS-13 living just a block from my housing and running a drug and prostitution ring," Cresitello told me when we spoke after a noon rally at town hall on Saturday. The point of the rally was to help Morristown gain 287(g) status. The police wouldn't be directed to do sweeps of the town's estimated 1,500 illegal immigrants, Cresitello told me. But they would be empowered to turn over to the feds anyone arrested for some other reason.

This simple reform would be uncontroversial in most countries such as El Salvador, where immigration laws are strictly enforced. In the United States, however, there is a large and loud constituency that opposes enforcement of any aspect of immigration law. And about 200 of them were lined up Saturday across the street in front of King's supermarket.

I have been trying to tell my fellow Republicans since 1999 that George Bush is a woolly-headed incompetent who has no business in the White House. After Saturday, I remain more convinced than ever of that fact.

Maybe the Know Nothings might want to ask why the State of NJ put a 3 time loser BACK on the street?

This is a state and local problem, NOT a Federal one.

None of them did their sworn duty and people died because of it.

I moved out of the Jersey cesspool last year. Corruption is an understatement.

Paul Mulshine and John Farmer, Democrat shills are jokes. In the 6 years that Bush has been in office, both of these Marxist editorialists have condemned Bush in pretty much every article they have written.

I have come to the conclusion that to write for a liberal rag, all you need to do is put on your resume that you have BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) and not only do you get a desk in the “newsroom”, you get free meds.
