WASHINGTON, Aug. 17, 2007 Iraqi and coalition forces are pursuing extremist leaders in Iraqs remote areas in coordinated quick strikes that launched this week, the commander of Multinational Corps Iraq told Pentagon reporters today. (Video)
Operation Phantom Strike is a series of joint operations that extend from Operation Phantom Thunder, a corps-level offensive that began in June targeting al Qaeda, Sunni insurgents and Shiia extremists in, near and around Baghdad, said Army Lt. Gen. Raymond T. Odierno. |

Hunting them down..BUMP!
In military terms, in the last two months, we have annihilated a HEAVY BRIGADE of enemy. About 1/3rd to 1/2 of a DIVISION.
So far in this war, we have eliminated close to 2 CORPS of enemy, that is, somewhere between 60-100,000 enemy killed or captured.
Right now, and only with Iranian help, the enemy can barely keep unit cohesion of 1/2 platoon to platoon sized elements. And these small elements are being policed up at a staggering rate. The only way they can support losses like this will be if large numbers of Iranian personnel and officers, al-Quds, are brought in to Iraq as replacements.
