I know your joking, but it is a good possibility that some one in the 101st took it to Zell am See and then traded it for something. Could have found it in Berchtesgaden, where it was probably taken after it was stolen, a typical GI would have had no idea what it was worth or it’s historical value, just found it pretty and took it. Then traded it in Zell an See for something he wanted more.
