Weeedley, although they are in bad need of it, rather than 'sharpening your wits', you are, instead, obviously

"grinding the axe" of your sectarian prejudice.

Even though I, personally, have not been convinced of the validity of the Book of Mormon, I find your opportunistic, bigoted, non sequitur attack on this poster's beliefs to be reprehensible. And I have little doubt that other responsible and fair FReepers feel the same way...

I have the same hope. I am not trying to win converts. This is not a religious thread. I was merely trying to show what the official stand of the Church is relative to this matter. Another FReeper provided a great link to the actual transcript of the trial. It was a massacre, no doubt about it. It was perpetrated by members of the Church, but it was not orchestrated, condoned, or excused by the Church or any authority. It was a terrible crime. As the article states:

First, nothing that any of the emigrants purportedly did or said, even if all of it were true, came close to justifying their deaths.

Not to put to fine a point on it; do not confuse my clear and precise logic with sectarian prejudice. Two very different concepts.
