When I first got cable tv in the early '80's I saw a commercial with him for The Money Store(?) I didn't know who he was and I thought he was a mobster.

Thanks for posting. I grew up a Yankee fan in NJ. Rizzuto & Bill White were the best announcers ever, in my opinion. They were warm, entertaining, and connected, with the fans and with baseball. Frank Messer was the 3rd wheel, more serious, which kind of balanced Rizzuto & White. They were great announcers, they loved baseball and loved the Yankees.
