Chicago is competing with private market in selling water, so their solution is to tax their competition out of business. Typical.

Aren’t basic food stuffs supposed to be exempt from sales tax? Water is as basic as it gets.

Sales tax in Chicago is 9%, consisting of 5% state, 2.25% city, 0.75% county and 1% regional transportation authority

Here in WV the sales tax is 6%. It used to be levied on everything, including food. They’ve started lowering it 1% every two years or so just on food. Now at 4% on food.

Chicago will try to tax the air we breathe. The city lost IMTEC (the big boat manufacturers show for dealers to go to) they are down in Orlando now. The hot dogs in Orlando are cheaper, too.
