Dateline is acting in concert with the police, as an agent of the police, and is imposing punishment prior to conviction. This is a problem.

As several posters have pointed out, with glee, the punishment is the public shaming on national TV. In many cases, including all of the Texas cases, that is the only punishment these men receive.
